Ever forget where you are when you wake up? Or what's going on?

Occasionally I'll wake up and have no idea where I am, I'm still coming out of sleep I suppose but my brain is just not ready to wake up.

Last night I woke my girlfriend up, sleep-blabbering about a friend of hers and I couldn't remember where I was or my girlfriend's name (ouch :S) but it seemed like I was awake. As bad as that seems, I've woken up and for quite a while had absolutely no clue about where I was, most often when I'm staying at my Parent's house which is only a few times a year.

Anyone else do this? I am not a fan!

This morning I woke up to my alarm, thinking "Why the he** did I set my alarm on Saturday?" and hit snooze. Then it went off the second time, and was thinking "what day is it" and completely out of it. I didn't know what was going on. Managed to make it to work unfortuantely :p.

What's worse than sleep paralysis is its urban legend and cultural spiritual explanation of it due to lack of proper education.

I hate sleep paralysis. Every time I get sleep paralysis it involves some really frightening experience, like waking up to the clear sounds of someone trying to bash down my bedroom door yet I cant movie a single muscle or even open my eyes to look for several long seconds. It is so vivid that when I do finally gain control of my body (almost like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill where I start wiggling my toe or finger) I go for my gun rack the slide and open the door prepared to shoot someone in the face. Yet no one is there. No one is anywhere in the entire house.

My son talks really loudly in his sleep sometimes. So loud I can hear him from my room down the hall. Occasionally I'll go to check on him and start a conversation based on what he's saying and he responds.

Ex:

Him: "Don't start the plane yet....we're not ready."

Me: "Are we out of fuel?"

Him: "Uhhh....yeah...fuel...and chocolate...."

it sucks.....you kind of go into a panic, but you can't move or speak. You kind of feel like you are soffocating even though you are not.Last time I had it, I was actually able to let out a moan and my gf slapped me out of it.

One night after a wee bit to drink in college I woke up on the kitchen floor..... of an apartment I lived in 2 years earlier.... to some chick beating me w/ a broom screaming "Who the fuck are you and what are you doing here?! Get the fuck out!" :)

I also sleep walk, talk, just about anything. One of my latest sleep adventures: About 6mos ago I was dreaming I was a snake charmer. I had pulled all the blankets off myself and my wife, was on my knees at the end of the bed. I remember the dream in every detail. I was bent over like one of those guys playing the whatever instrument it is the play to the cobra in the basket you know. Apparently I screwed up the music, the snake went to strike and I flew backwards away from it. I launched myself off the end of the bed into my wife's dresser. Fucked the dresser all up, broke the big huge mirror behind it and smashed the crap out of the sheet rock behind the dresser. Woke up screaming. My wife, who was up b/c I had ripped all her covers off, was laughing her ass off at me. Said I had been talking and making the instrument noises. I was cut up and bruised but it was pretty funny. I'm just glad she couldn't find the video camera in the dark room :)

I've had a few episodes where I would just wake in a semi-conscious state and start conversing to no one. My then girlfriend would just nudge me and that's enough to put me back into deep sleep... apparently. She could have slapped me or something for all I know.

Standard bedtime practice now for you includes a straitjacket and being strapped to the wall.

Or maybe that's what you do just for fun. ;);)
