Ever feel like stealing anything from work?

There's this 17" monitor sitting in the corner of my cube here. It's been sitting there for months, and will probably continue sitting there as long as I work here, after which it will be stacked in a pile of similar monitors in a closet, and never used again.

I feel like taking it home, and while I know I could do it and no one would even notice, I'm pretty sure it's technically against the rules. Sigh.

yeah, try having a 21" flat panel sitting next to you in the same situation. We have all the goodies, not allowed to take anything home 🙁

It's not worth it. "Big stuff" anyway. Well, nothing is "worth it." But we've all swiped pens/notepads accidentally or intentionally.

My work didn't have a problem with the IT staff borrowing unused equipment provided it returned if needed or when the employee leaves. Maybe suggest a checkout list? That's what we used. Employee checks out hardware, gets signed and dated by employee and boss on the checkout sheet, gets signed back in when needed or when employee leaves.

I wanna take home a $60,000 computer, a $40,000 spectrum analyzer, and a $20,000 oscilloscope. They aren't physically big stuff and can easily be put in the trunk of a car!

Here in a few weeks we are about to put 150 15" LCD's into surplus storage Lab upgrade. I figure about 1/4 will not make it to the back storage area.

Ask your boss, maybe he'll let you have it. I took a full pallet of monitors from work because they no longer needed them and wanted the space back. 🙂
