that you could not burp out. I was in agonizing pain for about 3 minutes the other day doing this. I gulped a little too fast - and voila - I was in terrible pain for quite a while. Could not burp or anything. . .

1st time it ever happened to me - was wondering if I were alone.

Had a beer chugging contest in college.... root beer (since it was sponsored by the school/dorm)
warm root beer...
2 cans each.

2nd place, and I watched my stomach start swelling and was in agonizing pain until THE burp.

yea you need to sit down and calm yourself, then you will burp sooner

edit: or have your dad pick you up and burp you by patting you on the back, my niece (10 months old) says it works well.

That feeling after shotgunning a beer sucks, it's like something jumped into your stomach and is crawling around.

I'm in the same boat as you. If I take a big drink of Dr. Pepper/Diet Dr. Pepper (especially in the morning), it does the same thing to me. Until I can burp, I about double over from the stomach cramps.

No other soda has ever done this to me.

Timely topic.

I was listening to Dr. Dean Edell today and he was talking about burps in general.

They basically come from one of two places..........

#1.) swallowed air

#2.) carbonated beverages

Other sources can be catalysts (he sighted dental work, oral anomolies as a couple) but basically there are the two above & that's it.

I think another good question would be how the air is expelled. (eruptated)

Why do burps come easily some times and not so at others???

My 6 year old daughter can burp like there's no tomorrow........at the same time I also know the pain of air *not* coming up.

Next topic...................intestinal gas????
