After three days of doing ~140kmh across Australia after last Chrissie i came round a bend about ~800km from home, saw the cops light rack and planted my right foot, i must have been quick enuff to slow down before his radar locked on, but i suspect he saw the car (loaded with all my stuff+ some furniture) lurch wildly as i stomped on the brakes :p

Any way he slapped on the lights, did a u-turn and came screaming after me, i pulled over and he did a vehicle and license check, kicked the tires etc, then as he was walking away his parting shot was 'and watch your speed mate' :Q

was he just being a champ and warning me, or had i really got away with it?

You probally got away with it.
Alot of the time if they didn't get you they try to find something like "unsafe tires", no brake light, etc.
Lucky Lucky, maybe not next time?

Yeah, I was doing... uh, well the speedo in that car stopped at 85 or 90, I think, and it was way past that (on I-80 in Western Nebraska). I got a ticket for having a headlight out.

BTW, you still owe me a pic.

I got a ticket for that in North Carolina once. The NC Trooper was heading in the opposite direction and radared the van in front of me doing 70. He U turned and pulled both of us over. He told me he did not get me on the radar but in his opinion I was speeding and wrote me a ticket.

nope, but I remeber once a cop was following me for a very long time just waiting for me to do something wrong. Must have been tailing me for a good 2-3 miles. I was going about 3 miles under the speed limit, and I knew there wasn't anything wrong with my car. Finally I got pissed and told my buddy sitting beside me, dude lets see what happens.

So rolled down my window and waved at the cop to pass.

And the cop overtook us and left! We both got a good laugh from that one.

Yea, I've never been ticketed or caught speeding. I was doing 60-70 on this awesome curvy street in Dallas. Too bad it's a 30mph speed limit with turns at 15mph.

I was driving through S. Georgia once about 15 years ago with my trusty radar detector on. Speed limit was probably 50; I was probably going 75 or 80. I came around a corner and in my lane right in front of me was a county sheriff, driving about 5 mph below the speed limit. I know he must have seen my car nosedive in his rear view mirror but he hadn't clocked me...I passed him slowly, then the road became one lane each way. He followed me for the next 15 miles or so, clocking every vehicle that approached from the other direction (as my radar detector howled). He never pulled me over but I know he wanted to.

yeah i reckon my lil 323 nearly touched nose to the bitumen i hit the brakes that hard, with at least a full load on board, but he obviously didn't ping me...

That would never happen in America. And if you were black and in Cincinnati you'd be shot on the spot.

I once was driving home for spring break. It had snowed very heavily and I was in my RX-7 cruising on some backroads. It was like 5:00 a.m. and I flew past a cop. I could see in my rear view mirror that he was trying to back up and turn around, but you could tell he was rocking back and forth. Luckily the parking lot he was in was frozen over.

Watch out with that. I know a guy who hit a try and died going 70 in the 35 mph street on royal between central and hillcrest. be safe.

Yup...once when driving my friend's minivan...I got pulled over for getting out of a parking lot too quickly. His insurance was expired, one of my friends was lying on the floor...but I said I was the designated driver, so I was safe.

In may, I was doing 150K/PH on the 407 Toll highway...I come over a rise, and see a navy-blue cop car on the right shoulder. I drop my foot on the brake, choke myself with the seatbelt...he pulled out behind me, but I got off the highway pretty quickly...
