So I purchased a 22" LCD monitor from eBay. The seller tacks on an extra $8.00 to the final cost. I sent him an email asking what this was for and I get the following reply:
The $8.00 fee charged on your eBay order is in correspondence with a
state law recycling fee. At this time there are a number of states
which require recycling fees to be charged on televisions and monitors.
These states and the amount of recycling fee charged can be amended at
any time as state policies change. By law, recycling fees are automatically computed on products and shipping charges.
Should I have to pay this? The auction didn't state anything about a recycling fee.
