Ever ate at the Melting Pot?

Thinking about going there for Valentines... I've never been there and though fondue might be a cool change of pace.

... other restaurant suggestions??

edit: I'm not going out to eat on Valentine's Day, but actually on Sunday - the day before. Hopefully this increases the chances of finding a place to eat.

I'd recommend just finding a restaurant that hasn't already been booked with reservations from other people celebrating Valentines Day.

Bland food IMO, not worth the price tag. There has to be a better place to take your date.

It's a fun time, although I can't imagine that it's not already booked solid by now.
I'm actually doing a "DIY" fondue dinner instead 🙂

Melting Pot is ok. I worked at one for a few months. V-day we had a limited menu and it was about $60/person. Either filet, lobster, or filet and lobster. Takes about 2-3 hours (maybe more) to get through a meal there. I would imagine each store decides their menu for the night, or just goes with the regular menu. Just something to ask when you call.

I know the one I worked at was booked up solid about 2 weeks in advance. I'd make sure yours isn't already full if that's what you're considering.

EDIT: Since you're not going on Vday, you're probably looking at $50-$70/person depending on your drinks. Most have a set meal that's around $60/person that includes the salad, cheese course, main dish with your choice or meat, and then desserts. I'd recomment the Ying-yang as it's pretty cool. Mushroom salad is great if you like mushrooms.

melting pot kind of sucks and not worth the money in my opinion

It is ok to go there once to "experience it" but I personally have no desire to go back again

I think the Melting Pot is pretty good...especially the cheese dip fondue part of the meal. That being said, it is always booked solid all of the days around V-Day...so you might want to find something different.

I don't know about you guys, but the one in Louisiana is supposed to be awesome. Everyone I've talked to that has eaten there had nothing but good things to say about it. One friend said that it was OK the first time he went, but the second time he ordered by recommendation and that was 10xs better. And yes, ppl in Louisiana know what good food is. I know that for sure now that I live in GA. I feel sorry for the ppl here. 😛

Thanks for the replies... there are still a couple more places that are supposed to be good around here and I'm going to make my calls today.

Definitely go some day if you have never been and the amount of money you'd be spending on the girl doesn't make you shudder. It is a fun experience. It gives you time to talk while the food is in the pot rather than just shovelling food from the plate to the mouth. I have been a couple times and the girls really seemed to enjoy it. I don't think it was the best meal I ever had though.

There's a Melting Pot near me in Denver and I've been dragged there three times, I think, but I was only sick the next day twice. I have a few friends who went there more recently, and they were pretty sick the next day, too.

same here. my wife and i dropped $120 just to dip some bread and veggies in cheese, eat a mushroom salad (best part of the dinner, IMO), boil up some shrimp/steak/lobster/scallops, and dip some fruit into some melted chocolate.

just an overpriced gimmick.

I really like the food and the desert it awesome but it is overpriced. And you'll never get Valentines night.. we booked our reservations there and we're going Saturday night instead. We made our reservations about a month ago... so gl.

I know they have one in Gainesville, FL... I've only heard about it from a friend who said it was cool except for the price.
