Ever accidentally thrown away an item with packaging materials from Amazon?

Say you ordered something small like a phone connector or something. And then in a separate order you bought 5 T Shirts. Sometimes they ship both orders in the same box. Well the T Shirts come wrapped in plastic so I ripped open the plastic and took out the T Shirts. Then I wadded up all the plastic in a tight ball and put some tape around it to keep it together and threw it away.

Well I wasn't thinking about the little phone connector and I missed it in the box because it was sandwiched in between the T Shirts and it got thrown out with in wadded up plastic. So what do you do? After a few days when the phone connector didn't arrive I went out to the large trash container in the condo complex parking lot. But the waste truck had already taken the trash earlier in the day.

Nope, I check the packing list and verify the contents of the order.

I think the majority of my friends have a similar story while growing up at Christmas. If they didn't carefully pick through all boxes and wrapping paper, eventually something small got thrown away with the trash.

I don't recall it happening to me though.

I had something like that happen to me over the past few months. I had like 4 packages coming from amazon separately and I didn't realize that I had received the 4th package until the next day, then I went in the garage and the item was in one of the empty boxes. It was an outfit for my toddler so it was very light.

Nope, never done that.

I have however broken a Wii because it somehow ended up in a pile of stuff headed to the tip and it fell out of the car boot when I opened the door.. DOH. Still have no idea how it got there, wife doesn't know either.

Are you SURE she doesn't know? ;)

Never. Then again, I'm not someone who places 600 orders a year with Amazon so that I never have to leave my house. What a life that must be.

Losing your marbles man.

Generally speaking those types of mistakes are caused by neurological issues.

Like not getting enough sleep, your brain being affected by a flu or a virus. Having a build up of beta amyloid for whatever reason. Being exposed to alot of heavy metals, especially mercury, etc.

I've done it a couple of times. Both times with very cheap light items. I did it just the other day. I can't remember what it was I ordered the other time I chucked product out.

This time I ordered 10 SD card cases for my flash memory. I took out one cellophane wrapped package of 5 out and then promptly threw out the shipping envelope and realized later I must have thrown the other cellophane wrapped package of 5 out.

Oops.

Not that I know of..... lol. I tend to really carefully check packaging but I could see it happen where something got stuck within packing material or something. Especially small electronic parts etc. Normally I will also check packing slip though.

I've made the same mistake a couple of times. Now I try to be much more careful about checking the entire box.

Correct. I make sure that the right items were shipped as listed on the packing slip.

I believe Amazon did away with packing slips around 2011.

Not having to leave the house is just an added bonus. It's more to do with not having to go back out just for 1 thing, or because you need to get a birthday gift for your kid's friend you don't need to drive 8 miles to Toys R Us just for that. Yup, that was delivered to my door today. Also the S8+ case and screen protector are on their way already. Store selections are overpriced and limited. One more I just got - toner for the laser printer @ $18 instead of having to buy Samsung-specific for $46 + tax at the local Staples. Not just for convenience or to be lazy.

Well I'm the caregiver for my elderly disabled father so I tend to stay in a lot these days since I live with him. So yeah I make hundreds of orders a year from Amazon. He has a friend who can stay and watch him if I go out but home delivery is more convenient.

And my lifestyle isn't much different than it was when I lived alone and my dad lived in his apartment 10 miles away. Living with him I still keep on buying high end PC stuff like Titan XP cards, Titan Xp cards (little p), $1k monitors and arriving tomorrow from Dell is their new $3500 Oled 30" monitor (for games and net videos.) With some financial help from my dad. I guess I really need to get a girl in here to visit. I have my own bedroom and bath as does my dad.
