I'm using Verizon DSL (3.0 MBps). I'm planning on reformatting soon, but this problem has been bugging me and I was wondering if any of you would have an answer for it.

For those who don't know, here's the information I'm getting on my Event ID 1007. It shows up every time I reboot my computer, and it's also accompanied by an icon in my system tray which says "Acquiring Network Address."
Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 000FEA850154. The IP address being used is [my IP]. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp
So I go there but, not being well-versed in the ways and mysteries of networking, my eyes quickly glaze over. I've noticed that my internet can, from time to time, be remarkably... inconsistent. That is to say that, according to the icon in my system tray which indicates network activity, I am sending packets but receiving none from the powers that be.

I don't know if that Event ID has anything to do with it, but I throw it out there in the hopes that someone will be able to help me. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9, and I'm using the onboard network.

If you need anything else, let me know. The rest of my specs are listed in my sig.

Update:

I tried doing an ipconfig /renew, thinking that might help me out in some ill-defined way, and came up with the following error:

An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.

So... I don't know what's going on with this DHCP server, but it appears that it might have something to do with the problems I'm currently facing. Any help would be totally groovy.
