Even with my analog LCD monitor's (1280x1024) drivers installed...

I get stretching instead of a letterbox.

This is on the desktop and on Oblivion. Is there any solution? Or does it just have to be that way?

Do you have an Nvidia Card?
Cause I think there is an option in the drivers that allows you to set it to to the letterbox thing, instead of streach the image.

I don't know how it is for your LCD but I can adjust my Sony via the display's on-screen menu. If I select the menu while in a non-native resolution, I can cycle down and choose the option to have it scale to fit the screen or appear as its natural size.
