In the never ending push to procur more hard drive space, I tried something just for the heck of it tonight. I have a SCSI to IDE Yamaha enclosue, so I put a spare 30 gig Maxtor hdd in it just to se if it would work. And it did. So now I have a total of 200 gigs of hdd space on my system.

Specs
Tyan Tiger 133 MOBO
Dual P III 800 133 FSB
1024 Mb of PC 133 Ram
6 Maxtor 20 gig HDDS
2 Seagate 23 gig SCSI Drives
1 Maxtor 30 gig HDD in the EXTERNAL SCSI ENCLOSURE
Voodoo 5 5500 AGP Card
SB LIVE Platnium
3 com 3c509b NIC
Adaptec 2940 UW SCSI card
Maxtor ATA 100 card
HP SureStore internal SCSI Tape backup
1 enermax 450 watt psu
1 AT PSU to run the SCSI drives and the 30 fans I havew in this bad boy.

So many wires and cables, it is a mess in the cases wright now, yeah that's right, CASES. I bolted 2 Full size towers together just to hold all the components of this BEAST. It weighs in at over 100 lbs, and is sitting on wheels. This is my ongoing project, and until I get some funds together, I will continue to mod this bad boy until it is fully maxed out.

You know you can probably sell all those smaller HDs and not only get a 200GB one but have a fat wad of cash left over, right? :)

Yeah, but If I sell them the wife will confiscate the money and I will never see it again. Besides, I like the sound of having a small jet engine in my office.;)

just out of spite, I'm going to add a floppy drive to my server, making my storage capacity, 200gb + 1.44 MB! HAHAHAHA

Actually, one of my drives died and I have to replace, so for now, it's 120GB +1.44MB! It'd be more if I could just remember where I put that 2.88 drive.

That's 200 GB not MB;)

MP3 storage, web space, application storage, driver storage. Plus whatever I care to download off the net.

When my wife and I got married, we combined our cd collections, So, with over 600 CDs, I ripped them all into MP3s, Now I just need to begin ripping DVDs

My little vacuum-cleaner-type computer here tops everything in your rig, and is less than half the size! NYA! /me pets dual LCD monitors

But I really can't brag too much...my noise will beat your's, too, by about 20 decibles or so, most likely, once my new nvidia gets here. :D;)

Well, with a bay in the house now, I can only work with what I have here. No buying of parts for a new system for a while.

There's ways around that kind of thing, don't you know that? IE, "Honey, I need a new mouse...look, our cute little boy/girl wants my old ball-type mouse! Let's get an optical, they're cheap!" or "Poor little Richie says he wants a Geforce FX for Christmas? Didn't you just hear him?"

:D

So with a lack of money, you are still going to upgrade your computer?

What a loser.

Nope, No upgrades, just figuring out how to add more to the system I have. When I upgrade peoples computers, I usually wind up keeping parts, or when companys upgrade systems, I get the old ones. I just happen to luck out and get a tape drive, So I added it to my system., My son get's all my money righ now. I just accept donations as I get them.
