This thread was a good read. You all have helped to make my decision that much easier.

Hey Quickfingerz,
Can you use a browser to set up everything on the Netgear, including the advanced features? I thought you could use the browser to set up the basic features and you had to use Telnet for the advanced. I won't receive my Netgear until tomorrow or the next day, but if you can access everything through the browser that would be great.

Thanks again to everyone for all their input and help. I at least feel I made an informed decision...

Just out of curiousity ShoNuff, what router did you decide on?

<< does anyone know if the firmware v 1.37 released on 12/29 for the Linksys makes it faster? >>

As far as I can tell, no. But I'm already getting 60-100 ms pings on good US servers for UT. (I'm in Toronto.) Even hit 32 ms once.

HOWEVER, this Linky WILL lockup every once in a while, not very often, but it's still VERY annoying.

I've had the single port RT311 and mine is hooked up to a UPS. I have never had a problem with it and it has never been shut off except during long power outages (once or twice?) or when I was working on the electrical wiring on that circuit. No lockups or any other problems.

Could any of you describe these "crashes" or "lockups" on the Linky BEFSR41? I have the linky and once in a while we get a phone-jack (disconnect symbol) in Quake3, requiring a reconnect in Quake3 to play again. Is this similar at all?
