Fucking democrats cant run an economy, etc, etc. Ditto the chip shortage and wildfires and everything else.
On an unrelated note: I do worry about the shortage of chicken. Anyone else worried about chicken? Or beef? Or pork?

Whats your favorite thing you believe you may not see again? I'm not worried about porn. If anything production has INCREASED 3 times.

A shortage of truck drivers has also contributed to supply disruption in Britain. The Road Haulage Association says the United Kingdom is short around 100,000 truck drivers, 20,000 of whom are EU nationals that left the country after Brexit.

James Hook, who runs farms that supply one third of the chickens sold in the United Kingdom, told CNN Business in June that his company was short about 40 farm workers, double the usual number of vacancies. A lack of truck drivers and a shortage of workers at processing plants was making life even harder for his business.

As the article says, it's a combination of Brexit and people having to isolate after potential coronavirus exposure, that's led to a shortage of lorry drivers.
Seems like a very minor aspect of both those things. Brexit causing labour shortages is quite predictable, but also could cut both ways, if it leads to employers having to pay higher wages or train people up, one could argue that's a positive thing.

I've heard there's also been problems with the authority that licenses truck drivers, also having a huge backlog, due to COVID, so people can't take up jobs.

I worry mostly about the chip shortage, we can't even buy parts to make prototypes and a lot of parts just list a 52 week leadtime because they have no idea when they'll actually get them.

Not exactly the "chickens went home to roost" that I was expecting from this Brexit thing.

Wings have been very hit or miss lately in our area. Thanks Obama!

That reminds me—someone explain those Wingstop "we're now Thighstop!" ads. Ok, I get there is a wing shortage, but AFAIK you get 4 wings per bird (2 drummettes and 2 flats) and only 2 thighs per bird. If there's a wing shortage…shouldn’t there also be a thigh shortage?? Where are the extra thighs coming from??? :confused;

Yeah it's bizarre because it's been that way through the whole shortage. No wings but everything else is available.

It’s those goddamn genetically-modified freak KFC chickens (the ones missing eyes, beaks and wings) polluting the chicken gene pool.

Dammit KFC!!

Long queues and fuel rationing as Britain faces truck driver shortage

Lengthy queues of vehicles snaked their way to gas stations in Britain on Saturday where an acute shortage of truck drivers has led to fuel rationing and some pumps running dry, and prompted the government to consider issuing temporary work visas.

Across the country, motorists waited in long lines to fill up their vehicles. One big distributor said it was rationing sales and a number of operators said they were having to close some forecourts, provoking panic-buying.

Government ministers and oil companies say there are ample stocks of petrol or diesel and there is no cause for alarm, but the lack of truck drivers is hampering transport of fuel from refineries to gas stations.

I can't work out if the petrol shortage is real or is largely down to panic-buying/hysteria.

Surprised that I have yet to see anyone offering to trade rolls of toilet paper for petrol.

It's not petrol shortage, it's delivery driver shortage.

Well, the argument is there's a petrol shortage because of the driver shortage - no tanker drivers to delivery petrol to the petrol stations. Plenty of fuel at the depots, apparently, just long queues at the petrol stations (not that I would know, being a non-driver). From the sound of it there's a hefty degree of unnecessary panic-buying involved, as with the early pandemic 'shortages'.

So there is a petrol shortage, if only at the point-of-supply.

Generally this government is just staggering from one crisis to another. It has to be the most incompetent government we've had in decades. A government of none-of-the-talents. They seem to have completely lost interest in actually governing.

(It obviously comes from the top - Johnson just wanted Prime Minister on his CV, to win some schoolboy competition with his fellow Bullingdon pals, he has no interest in actually doing anything or running the country, hence he's surrounded with some of the most useless ministers the country has ever had. Not that that says much for Keir Starmer, who is managing to make no impact whatsoever as opposition leader).
