So i ordered new snowshoes from EMS, and they shipped out UPS. Today was the estimated delivery day, which is cool because it is garbage day.
So i can kill two birds with one stone, i go out and plow the driveway while taking the garbage, and then spend a good amount of time throwing down some mag chloride so the UPS truck can come on down to the house.
I hear garbage come, and then all i have to do is wait for UPS.
I see the truck and he stops at the gate, gets out and puts the box behind the gate (which was open, but out of the way so it can't be seen from the street.
So i have to hoof it up to the gate to get my dam package.
UPS sucks.

If you had a clue what the schedule of those drivers have to deal with... lol
Bitching about getting your package on time during peak season for those guys, Brilliant. This time of year they have extra people go along their routes with them to allow them to get more done.
Be happy you got your stuff on time and move on

You're lucky he didn't leave it on the street for rh71 to steal it.

He was just giving you an opportunity to test the new snow shoes you bought in your walk back to the house. You should be grateful.

who cares if they have a rough schedule. they should still be taking items to the door and knocking and not just dropping them off wherever they feel like.

Why can't they put GPS on the trucks? They know which package is in which truck (I assume) so it would be so easy to get real-time mappings of the truck's location and know when he's coming.

Do it!

exactly. i'm glad he got it here on time, it's his job. i don't give a damn what he or any other UPS worker has to go through, it's their job, i just expect the courtesy of them delivering it to me, not in the near vicinity of me.
it's called customer service. i don't have to give it to them, but they sure should be giving it to me.

Fedex lost my transmission I ordered for 4 weeks and managed to make it worse. They took the transmission off the shipping crate and stuffed it into a low weight box upside down and dented the pan about a 1/4" in.

a few times awhile back, the ups guy that would deliver to my cousins house had a unique way of making sure you get your package. if no one answers the doorbell, he'll hail mary throw whatever size box he can throw to the second story balcony. :) even leaves one of those sticky notes saying "package left with.... BALCONY"

You know there'd be geeks all over the place tracking and running the UPS drivers off the road trying to get their packages early or if they missed the delivery...

I always thought it was policy that they give it to a person, and that person has to sign. If a package is missing and there is no signature they are responsible. At least that's how it works here. They try 3 times, after 3 times they keep it at their office for you to pickup, if you don't pickup within a certain time frame (7 days I think) they send it back. I usually just get them to ship to my office so I get it right away. Was funny actually since once I was at work using UPS package tracking and it said my city, and that it got there not too long ago so I'm like "cool I should get it today". The office mail guy pops up at that EXACT instant with my package. Win.

I had one incident where UPS left a (ironicly) UPS right at my side door in the snow. Got lucky as I was still home so I brought it in when I left for work and saw it sitting there.

UPS opens my side door and throws the package in and screams "UPS" !!!!!

At least the package is inside the house though.

yeah while i would love to be able to track my package by the street. i would think that the liability would be high.

There is GPS on the trucks (well, the diads) but it can only be used by HQ. They track their drivers all day to make sure they're not fucking off or using chitty routes.
