Good find.

One concern (dumb question):
ML-1210 says it doesn't support PostScript printing. Does that mean it won't print PDF files? Or it simply print slower and worse quality?

It WILL print PDF files. It will not print any .ps or .eps images. So, if you import these things to apps like MS Words, the non-postscript printer only prints the text and not the image. You can use Acrobat to import the postscript images into the PDF document and print it on a non postcript printer.

I bought this when it first came out ago ~5 months ago?? AND I LOVE IT!! your own laser printer for under $200?!? Incredible. I wish I had the rebate back then. You will not need to replace the ink cartridge for years, and unlike inkjet printers, no clogging of the ink, bad printing, etc. Every print I have made is pristine. I hated my epson ink jet. Spent more on ink for it than this Samsung printer cost! And then one day it just died. Not to mention that it would always have clogged ink and splotchy printing. This Samsung printer is fast, quiet, nice looking, and a steal at under $200!! I really can't say enough good things about it. I use it on our home network and print from both machines. It has a standby mode that makes it go silent when not in use. If you need a printer at all, and don't need color, this is the only printer for you. Oh yeah, and cost per page is about as low as you can get (~3 cents?)

I bought this printer about 8 months ago for 200. It has been great! Prints well and fast!
BUY THIS PRINTER AT THIS PRICE - laser quality for not much more than a crummy inkjet!

It's not $119.95 shipped because you have to send in the rebate after you get it.

Anyone know if Buy.com is a participating retailer as needed for the rebate requirement? Walled Lake, MI has been a reliable rebate center in the past so it should hopefully work out.

Has anyone used this printer with Windows XP without problems (including USB)?

I just checked the Microsoft hardware compatibility list and it seems to be XP compatible. HCL

Here is another $50 rebate that goes to NY rather than MI. $50 Rebate ML-1210 I called about this and they said Buy.com is a participating retailer so the rebate will work. I didn't call to ask about the MI rebate.

Ok, newbie Qs:

I'm not familiar w/ laser printers...but do all printers now a days don't package at ink/toner? Must consumers purchase these items separately?

Also, does this printer do B&W only or color too?

Here is a little story. I haven't bought a printer for myself since 1995, when i got a dot matrix one included in my DX2 66Mhz PC. I've built many systems now, and I still use the "printer" money to get myself a better Vid Card or something. I've always used my Highschool Printer... College Printer... or my Brothers Z23 printer. Today the ink ran out of his.... leaving me with about a 35 page paper due tomorrow.
I read this thread and it looked interesting. I needed it NOW so i went to bestbuy. THeir site listed it at 199.99. when to the store and listed at 179.99... sweet ? Well, with taxes (8.25) it came out to ~194, then i gotta mail in the 50$ rebate.

This baby is FAST, comes with the 2,500 page toner, and its quiet... well after its been warmed up. The picture quality isn't great tho, but its OK. I wouldn't try to print Photo-Quality pics with this, but this thing breezed right through my 35 page print out.
THe documentation is ummm, well i have no idea what some things are.

I recommend this printer to anyone who wants a GOOD FAST CHEAP text printer and occasional images. This is great for us Hot Dealer's.... print those rebates as fast as we can find them !

Price has now gotten even lower with the new 10% off $100+ coupon for Buy.com

BTW, the coupon states "for Discover Card purchases", but it took off 10% even as I was using my Visa Card.

any idea how it went through for you with the visa, as it doesn't seem to want to with my visa?

thanks

I checked out, logged into my account, used my Visa Card and it kept the 10% discount.

Hey folks, how do you find out if a retailer is "participating"? Asking because at Forest Lake Solutions the same printer is listed at $124.00 Shipping for me comes to ~16 bucks, minus coupon ($50.00) it'll be just about $90.00. (Nothing beats good old Pricewatch!)
Thanks.
