I'm surprised that Purch didn't bother updating the Black Friday forum this year. If they love ads so damn much, they probably could have put some sponsored posts in there.

Disagree.

Fabio hasn't had much media exposure like he did in the 90's. Linus was a young kid then. And, maybe he doesn't care much for entertainment except for technology.

The ads are only an issue on mobile, I sometimes check forums from bed (bad habit) before I go to sleep and last night I actually had an ad that tried to activate the mic. I have a Blackberry DTEK50 which has some extra security features such as asking for permission if an app tries to use a resource, so I got a popup asking if I can allow Firefox to use the mic. I'm like "uhhh no?" and denied it.

This one is amusing too:



I like that it's smart enough to know what city I live in but not smart enough to know we don't have a casino here. At least they are showing real Canadian 20's, so I'll give them that.

The only reason I know that name and a general idea of what he looks like is that there was a guy at my work that people called that.

I'm not that into pop culture either. But growing up through the 80's and 90's I was exposed to the commercials. And I learned more about him on the news from time to time.

The only reason I've heard of him is because someone posted that video of him when he got his nose broken by a goose on a roller-coaster.
