My example..

Final Fantasy Online..

Step 1) Buy some weapon from a weapon shop for 300 gil (gold, $, etc)

Step 2) Put it up for auction at 450 gil

Step 3) Make 150 gil profit

Step 4) Repeat over and over.

I made lots of money doing just that.

Man.. just like eBay.. why are people so clueless when it comes to auctions? My theory.. no matter what it is, you can sell it for more on eBay.

Are you serious? How many bidders do you get, and do you actually hype up the item you're selling? It's hard to believe that ppl. would actually pay more esp. in mmorpgs ...

Its true. For everyone good deal on a computer part I see on ebay now, I see 10 go for more than they are worth. Sometimes way more.

They were simple low level hand weapons. Bought them from a shop on one side of a town, upped the price at the auction house at the other side of the town, and just kept doing it over and over. Never had any problem selling them.

I don't question that you're making money, but how much Gil per hour are we talking here for flooding the market with items? If you're making 150 gil (on average) per sale, even if you have a full 7 up at a time, selling all 7 in an hour (have you really? I never got my stuff to sell that fast) only leads up to barely over 1k/hr. I can make 5 to 10k an hour just running around killing bees for beehive chips and honey. Also, has doing this dropped the price on your server? I would assume that when other people try to sell the same equipment, they're going to undercut your prices a little to compete, and that 150 profit is going to start lowering and lowering.

When I was doing it I was selling Cat Bankahs. I put as many as I could on the auction house, forgot about them for a day, and got the profits next time I logged in.

my point it there are lots of people with tens of thousands of gils

Paying 150 extra is like nothing.

You should farm crystals and sell them at an AH

crsytals go for like couple of thous per stack

Um these are newbie items dumbass. Obviously the vast majority of the people who are going to be buying such items are going to be newbies, who don't know EVERY facet of the game yet.
