Even after bankruptcy, this couple still overspends...

Bullshit. It is precisely because there are no consequences that people keep doing it.

Even faced with the consequences, people with compulsive overspending will not stop. Its like a drug, its a form of addiction.

When my wife and I split up, she would not stop with her overspending. I found out after the fact, that right after we split up she applied for more credit cards, bought an expensive bedroom suit,,,,,. It was like overspending was some kind of stress reliever.

You can sit down with an overspender, talk all you want, have their power cut off, have their gas and water cut off, and they will keep spending - especially with credit cards. With my ex-wife, if there was a company that offered her a credit card, she would get it, and max it out within weeks or months. Regardless of how much I literally begged her to stop, she refused.

I'm in awe of the $575,000 mortgage on a $62,000 salary. I don't understand how that loan even got approved.

Oh, wait....

As I said before, bankers are idiots.

I wonder if bankers do that with their own family. Like their useless brother in law asks to borrow their car and it's 99% likely he's going to fuck it up then return it without fixing it or filling it up with gas and they go ahead and lend it out anyway.

Banks can't make money on people who pay them back before accumulating intrest. The worse your credit history, the more money they can squeeze out of you.

I would like to move out for my last year of university.... but all students less than four years out of high school are expected to live with their parents and have your parents contribute (which mine don't) unless you worked full-time or "had the opportunity to work full-time" for two years. no student loans for me 🙁

I've never given my banks a dime in interest for my 5 credit cards. Don't have a line of credit.

Meanwhile, most other people I know are making the minimum payments on their 10-19%/month interest credit cards. But hey, one of them has a shitty new Chevy Cobalt to show for it.

Ah, forgot about garnished wages. Can you garnish wages for credit cards? Also, what limit is currently set on percent of income (i.e. how much can you garnish)?

depends on the state. in texas a judgment for a credit card company against a person is about as valuable as the paper it's written on.

The family is doomed, people do this because they don't have to pay the piper. They live in fantasy land. They are a product of thier shitty parents. Saying its a disease just enables them.

Should I seek help because I hate stupid ignorant people like this? Well doc every time I hear a story like I want to punch them in the face. It's a disease right?

62K income, 575K house...
Yea, I know it's been said before, but ... seriously, what the hell kind of tard bites off that much more than they can chew... 440K for their 1st mortgage...

Anybody making 60K really shouldn't be carrying a mortgage much over 200K, 400K+ is insane!
