Evangelicals stand behind Trump despite evidence of sexual misconduct

Yes folks this article by the nice folks over at NBC highlights the religious figureheads who remain faithful to the party candidate despite the evidence in their face. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/201...l-support-donald-trump-less-you-think-n666146 This really makes a sane person step back and scratch their heads. Anybody preaching holiness and repentance should be running flat out for the exit doors away from this character. The confidence bias present in evangelicals is astronomically insane which I find quite frankly to be disturbing not to mention the fact that most of these people own the majority of the guns in this country.

Rick Perry, eat your evangelically blessed heart out.

They picked Trump instead of you. How does that make any sense, huh? 😀

What I find interesting is that these supposed Christians are supporting a man who is someone they would otherwise consider a heathen and hell bound. Someone who said that he's never asked for forgiveness because he doesn't think that he's ever sinned or done anything that required it. Someone who is a serial adulterer with multiple marriages, who proclaims that he can grope women without consequence and then whines when those women step forward to proclaim that for once, he's telling the truth. The only conclusion I can come to is that these 'Christians' are another form of Convenience Christians, but this form is a particularly evil form that really has little to do with Christ or Christianity.

Their Jesus wouldn't have anything to do with these so-called followers of his.

I guess Florida Man is inviting Trump to throw the first stone... 😀

There are a large amount of Ultra-Conservative Christians in Florida, that has been changing a bit over time.

Not all Floridians are bat shit crazy 🙂

I use it as a descriptor for 'that' kind of guy who lives in a particular state. Here in Oregon we have Oregon man, someone who invariably says and/or does stuff that makes you question their sanity.

Just stay away from New Jersey Man... 😉

They don't give a shit who the president is as long as their Supreme court judges of choice are in line to strip abortion rights, gay marriage and bathroom sanctity. That's why I'm voting for Clinton

Well, I guess Trump is a much better choice than those evil, blaspheming, godless, sinful, adulterat'in, gay marry'in, abortion lov'in Demoncrats.

Never mind that Trump really don't give a single juicy fart about any of that, and never mind that he'd fit right in with "those kinds of people".

Geez, what's a fundamentalist Christian to do these days? I mean, McCain the Profaned was bad enough, and that Mormon Ward Bishop who lost that last race with Obama made more than a few fundamentalists wince and jerk a nervous lip or two.

What's next?

Fundies, time to create your own party. You're guaranteed to win the next election, I promise.

Ted Cruz was their guy in this election and he'll probably be the guy in 2020 for them. He's the one person who makes Hillary look down to earth and relatable.

Ah yes, good 'ol Ted....the guy that looks like he just loves sucking on green lemons all the time. I really do hope he ends up being THE man that wins their primary in 2020.

Hillary would be ecstatic if she were to run against him. I can just see her ruminating on Ted: "Mmmmmmm, Ted tenderloins....Ted tendons.....mmm-mmm-good." 😉

You're correct as the last time I looked the bible says in Mark 4:22 that the hidden things will be brought out into the open. The religious mouthpieces need to read their own book and stop supporting the exact thing it tells them to run away from.

If you could reason with religious people, there wouldn't be religious people.
I agree if they would stop believing everything they hear from a religious sect leader and do some research for themselves using critical thinking skills they'd push away from that table. Religion actually scares me as these are the same hate spewing people who own the majority of the guns in this country.

Most of the writers over at the conservative site RedState are #NeverTrump and also have been excoriating evangelicals over their support of him. I've been reading there since 2003 and the site has been posting nonstop crap attacking Trump and the Republicans who support him. They now have a post up about the number of women who have now stepped forward and said that Trump sexually accosted them (16 as of now) and blaming the media for colluding with the Democrats/Clinton to sit on this info until right before the election. In other articles there they like to also claim that Democrats foisted Trump on them and that most of his supporters are Democrats...lol!

IOW, in Republicanland a conservative is never wrong, they can only be wronged. Reality, they don't deal in it...

DrDoug that article is quite scary and reflects the level of classical conditioning present among their readership. You know the RNC knew about all of this as they vehemently resisted Trump's nomination in the beginning and then had no choice but to cozy up to the reality that their base chose this guy over their more palatable choices. When I hear their mindless minions speaking in support of this guy I keep reminding myself that these same idiots represent the majority of gun owners in this country. Hate + firepower = some scary possibilities in my mind.

It's scary in the sense that they can't admit failure of any sort, they always have someone else to blame for it. As far as the majority of gun owners and all that, as a nation of 300+ million the best they are going to be able to muster are domestic terrorist attacks, attacks that will only undermine their cause. As much as they strut and squawk about firepower and fighting back against their government, do remember that most of these people are Bundy-level types who have at best a tenuous grasp of reality. Not to dismiss the danger they pose, while they are dangerous they are only so on a small scale.

Those are the ones who are too stupid to realize that the numbers are against them, the rest will either whine or profit from the whiners but little more than that.

My parents epitomize this to a T. They are always looking for someone else to blame even though the fault lies with their own actions. This belies the fact that they have does this since I was very young and they would never accept responsibility for anything going wrong in their lives. Right now they are not happy with me as I stand in opposition to all that they hold dear. My dad is a Mormon and refuses to believe anything that is said about the Don further confirming how confirmation bias permeates all facets of religion.

We are electing a president, not a pope.

If sexual misconduct was an issue how did billy boy get elected.

The GOP spent years trying to crucify Billy Boy over sexual misconduct. Have you changed your doctrine? Now you are trotting out a pedophile as your hero. Hypocrites.

Amen to that brother!😱😀 Sorry but I couldn't help but mock using accepted church lingo. The last time I was in church before the Lord spoke to me and threw me out the accepted catch phrases were: amen, hallelujah and glory all spoken while waving your hands around while shuffling your feet or swaying.

Yep I know it's hard to believe seeing a Christian who bashes religion and the denominations who propagate that garbage. I get condemned all of the time for telling church people that they should have compassion and respect for other people like the LBGT's who they will condemn at the drop of a hat. I don't condone their lifestyles but I can be a friend to them and respect them as people which is the example that Jesus demonstrated many times. In his day the church leaders would walk around in the streets of the cities looking for people to stone to death even though they themselves had plenty of sin on their own plates.

I might not agree with Puff on a lot of things, but you seem to have a pretty reasonable way of looking at life in general.

Anyone who is overly radical in their beliefs is pretty close minded, and runs foul of the basic moral teachings of most religions to begin with.

Pick and choose at random to support an ideology in general for support without acknowledging the basic principles on a whole seems to have been problem over the ages.

But that has always been a theological theme over time, from the days of Roman Cruxifictions, the Spanish Inquisition, and some current day Imams proclaiming Fatwahs.

I may have missed a few and it goes back further in time than that I am sure.

I'll be lazy and leave it at that, I've rambled on enough already.

I agree with you MongGrel as most religions have some form of the Golden Rule which seems to go unheeded by the masses. I've noticed that people who hold onto some form of pseudo piety seem to use emotion more than reason when confronting an issue or view that differs from their own.
