The reason why we are seeing a TON of pushback from evangelicals is because they are losing their standing in America. And, its happening at a very fast clip. Has anyone noticed? Young people don't attend church like they have in the past. More people in America are declaring themselves as nones, or non-religious. Pew reseacrh has estimated that by 2060 Christanity will be a minority in America. That Christanity is declining at a fast rate, and this upsets the evangelicals. I live in NJ, and most of the people in my area are Catholic. We could care less, and are more interested in other things besides religion. Catholic schools and churches in my area are in a steep decline as well. We've had a few Catholic churches and schools shut their doors. The deciine is real.

Yup, my wife grew up in an extreme baptist church. Her mom still gets together with a lot of the other women from there, nearly all of their kids are now atheists.

Of course, they whine about "what did we do wrong, how did we fail our kids," when at least 5 of them are engineers and a few of them are doctors.

The more educated people tend to become, the less that they believe in the supernatural. Norway, France, and Japan have the most non-religious people in the world. The reason: A great percentage of people who live in these countries are educated. Lets look at America. The more religious areas: Mississippi, parts of rural Texas, Alabama, Arkansas are very religious. There is a church on every street corner. People who live there tend to be less educated, and poor. Compare that to the blue states: California, New Jersey, and Mass. Less religious, highly educated, and make more money. I live in South Jersey. Most of the people in my area are Catholic. Most people aren't pushing religion on other people, because we have other things to worry about.

"People are leaving the church because we're a bunch of assholes, what do we do?"
"Hm, let's double-down; scratch that, quintiple-down on our asshole behavior!"

I don't know why they should be so upset about declining numbers, if they're legitimate in their faith*, that's fewer people crowding up heaven after the rest of us heathens get Left Behind™

*Narrator: they aren't

I can't remember meeting an atheist I didn't like.

The problem is the people leaving the church are the more moderates, so like everything else the ones left behind become more extreme.

Also the bible says they have to recruit others, basically to bring in more money into the church.

This is why we need to force everyone to register their religion, church, and religious leader with the government, (don’t worry we’ll have an atheist, agnostic, FSM box for the rest of us). Then allow the religious leader to use the IRS to deduct tithes from every one of their registered parishioners.

After the first year of 60% tithes and 3 private jets for the local pastor I bet we can drive church attendance down to almost nothing even among the extreme.

As my liberal minister said a few weeks ago, "People like us don't go to church."

And it's true. I only know this because I watched the livestream. :innocent:
