Glad to see that separation of church and state is going well.
Lobbyists.

You have an interesting take on things. Two days ago religious leaders all over the nation organized and convened for the March for our Lives and for Civil Rights, on the anniversary of the assassination of MLK, Jr.
...but not the evangelical leaders. Not them. When they come to Washington, they do it to talk to their president about carnal relations with porn stars.
The Atlantic had a really good article about this very topic this month, definitely worth a read.I can't figure out why religious people voted for him. They willfully deluded themselves. My mother is one of them.

Pastor David Jeremiah has compared Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump to Joseph and Mary: “It’s just like God to use a young Jewish couple to help Christians.”
I can't figure out why religious people voted for him. They willfully deluded themselves. My mother is one of them.
Evangelicals voted for Trump because their leadership assured them that Trump would appoint a pro-life judge to the SCOTUS. It appears that he has. They didn't look at the rest of the deal at the time.
sexism too, don't forget sexism.Every other Republican candidate would have nominated someone like Gorsuch too. They voted for the guy whose entire campaign was about racism.
For 20 years the Left/Dems have been preaching to everyone why private sex lives don't matter. Now they are unhinged because some guy is alleged to have had (consensual) sex with some woman 10 or so years before even running for office.

I don't think many here actually read the article. Criticizing the so-called 'evangelicals' for hypocrisy; why? They're not there meeting Trump for some kind of religious purpose. They're there for political purposes.

Not seeing the relevance to religion and morals.Really? Did you forget about Obama's fake birth certificate and all the rapists Mexico is sending us?
It's like you just don't care to pay attention to the words coming out of your mouth.
Fact: religious jackasses claim moral superiority, and the republican party. The Democrats do not, never have--and yet they punish theirs when they step out of line.
The repubs: eh: We are the party of family, morality, religious purity...eh, except when our people fuck crack whores, cabin boys, and professional prostitutes and adult film actresses...but they told us they made it right with God, so cool.
Fuck off, Fern. Learn to think, for fucks sake.
Learn what hypocrisy actually means and use it correctly for once, ffs.
It is interesting when you open yourself to actually listening to other viewpoints. It starts an entirely new state of being. On the other hand I can't bring myself to believe much of what any religious person says. I mean there God actually helps them win football and baseball games while letting kids get beat and raped. So yah not a big fan of the bible thumpers on either side of the fence.Well, my mother, an ordained Methodist minister and elder of the church, was here in town as part of her conference (Eastern NC) to participate in the march. That was our take on what is happening when it comes to "the religious" of the country today.
In other words: my eyes are open.
Yours?
Bah! More liberal fake moral outrage. Humans are not not perfect and you Democrats have plenty of scandals in your midst. Bill Clinton proved that. But, gee, it's not alright because a republican did it. Boo-fucking-hoo. Go back to reading your 50 shades books, you hypocrites. Watch the video of Obama reading from his book about liking ribs...and pussy too. Human beings are not saints, politicians are worse, yet people still vote for them. We've created and allowed our own problems. We either demand morality, or we don't. But just stop with this phony outrage.
Not seeing the relevance to religion and morals.
Its because Christianity and religion are not the same thing as conservative/religious values often times fly in the face of Christian values. Jesus watches this and face palms all day long while shaking his head. How is racism not relevant to religion?

Edit: No offence to your mom.
Interesting how convoluted your confusion has become. Or it's "interesting," not interesting? Evangelical christian = religious christian, guys, not political christian. I'm not just saying this because i'm religious, even though it's both silly and vaguely apologetic, so I could easily be mistaken for a christian myself. -hayaBeen reading around and it seems that there are Evangelicals (a minority to be sure) who were and are against Trump. The problem is that Evangelical connotes a religious, not political perspective. So they are Evangelicals but not "Evangelicals". Right not they are trying to figure out how to disabuse people of belief in an association which never existed.
