Two days ago religious leaders all over the nation organized and convened for the March for our Lives and for Civil Rights, on the anniversary of the assassination of MLK, Jr.

...but not the evangelical leaders. Not them. When they come to Washington, they do it to talk to their president about carnal relations with porn stars.
You have an interesting take on things.

Evangelicals voted for Trump because their leadership assured them that Trump would appoint a pro-life judge to the SCOTUS. It appears that he has. They didn't look at the rest of the deal at the time.

Every other Republican candidate would have nominated someone like Gorsuch too. They voted for the guy whose entire campaign was about racism.

Evangelicals don't care about the affair, they care about getting wiped out in the midterms.

For 20 years the Left/Dems have been preaching to everyone why private sex lives don't matter. Now they are unhinged because some guy is alleged to have had (consensual) sex with some woman 10 or so years before even running for office.

--------------------------------

I don't think many here actually read the article. Criticizing the so-called 'evangelicals' for hypocrisy; why? They're not there meeting Trump for some kind of religious purpose. They're there for political purposes.

Fern

It's like you just don't care to pay attention to the words coming out of your mouth.

Fact: religious jackasses claim moral superiority, and the republican party. The Democrats do not, never have--and yet they punish theirs when they step out of line.

The repubs: eh: We are the party of family, morality, religious purity...eh, except when our people fuck crack whores, cabin boys, and professional prostitutes and adult film actresses...but they told us they made it right with God, so cool.

Fuck off, Fern. Learn to think, for fucks sake.

Learn what hypocrisy actually means and use it correctly for once, ffs.

You have an interesting take on things.

Well, my mother, an ordained Methodist minister and elder of the church, was here in town as part of her conference (Eastern NC) to participate in the march. That was our take on what is happening when it comes to "the religious" of the country today.

In other words: my eyes are open.

Yep, mixing politics and religion like this is like mixing nitric acid and glycerin.

I respect the religious community as a whole and many of my friends and family members are enthusiastically involved with their churches so I cheer them on and wish them well..................right up until I get the lecture and song and dance about why I should join their church and not those "other ones" and why I should demand that only people of faith should be our elected leaders in order to ensure that the laws of the land are correctly based on the truth found in their good books.

The most entertaining recruitment pitch that I experienced was the one where this young and very faithful kid tossed at me. He was using crib notes to get his act on track, bless his adorable little heart.

Sometimes I get the sneaky spitball pitch thrown at me where I can see it coming even before the wind up and I have to call time out to keep my face from breaking out in a smirk. Nice try, next!

Worst of all though are the ones that try to strike fear in me in order to get me on board. I wonder if their elders ever told them that that's the best way to turn folks away rather than bringing them into the fold.

I've had many enjoyable conversations with my friends who are walking that narrow path about their experiences with their faith but I've also let them know that I believe that each and every one of us will have our own time and our own unique way of knowing when we're being asked to heed the call. Persuasion and acceptance must come from within and not from any other external influence. We are all blessed with the freedom to choose for ourselves, right?

For the fact that some religious folks think it's better to make laws that forces the rest of us to behave and believe as they do, well, good luck with getting around the Constitution to make that happen is all I can say.

BTW, ISIS is having a really hard time doing that with their own brand of religion.

Exactly, it is not holding them to some perceived libertarian standard, it is holding them to their own standards and calling them hypocrites to their face.
I dont claim a superior belief moral or ethics system, you do, and you FAIL at your own math. Must suck to be you.(them).

It is interesting when you open yourself to actually listening to other viewpoints. It starts an entirely new state of being. On the other hand I can't bring myself to believe much of what any religious person says. I mean there God actually helps them win football and baseball games while letting kids get beat and raped. So yah not a big fan of the bible thumpers on either side of the fence.

Edit: No offence to your mom.

Bah! More liberal fake moral outrage. Humans are not not perfect and you Democrats have plenty of scandals in your midst. Bill Clinton proved that. But, gee, it's not alright because a republican did it. Boo-fucking-hoo. Go back to reading your 50 shades books, you hypocrites. Watch the video of Obama reading from his book about liking ribs...and pussy too. Human beings are not saints, politicians are worse, yet people still vote for them. We've created and allowed our own problems. We either demand morality, or we don't. But just stop with this phony outrage.

@compuwiz1 so I guess this was just an ignorant shit post and run?

Not seeing the relevance to religion and morals.

How is racism not relevant to religion? It has been baked into white evangelicalism in the south considering the Southern Baptist Convention was created specifically in support of slavery. Trump's open racism is what got him the support of white evangelicals.

Its because Christianity and religion are not the same thing as conservative/religious values often times fly in the face of Christian values. Jesus watches this and face palms all day long while shaking his head.

No it's fine, she doesn't like them either. :D

She's of the opinion that Jesus (or whatever God you choose, because she thinks they are all the same) doesn't really give a shit about your sports team and is only really interested if you are a human dickhead or not.

Been reading around and it seems that there are Evangelicals (a minority to be sure) who were and are against Trump. The problem is that Evangelical connotes a religious, not political perspective. So they are Evangelicals but not "Evangelicals". Right not they are trying to figure out how to disabuse people of belief in an association which never existed.

Interesting how convoluted your confusion has become. Or it's "interesting," not interesting? Evangelical christian = religious christian, guys, not political christian. I'm not just saying this because i'm religious, even though it's both silly and vaguely apologetic, so I could easily be mistaken for a christian myself. -haya
