I tweak and optimize my WinXp, I clean my registry, update files and programs, have antivirus, adaware, firewall and the usual good stuff. I only do a fresh install when I build a fresh computer.

Evaluate please.

I clean my registry=true
update files and programs--some of them. Like soundcard drivers, game patches, not video drivers, though, because I've found The One.
have antivirus, adaware, firewall and the usual good stuff===nothing but a well-configured router.
I only do a fresh install when I build a fresh computer=nope. I like to have one or 2 to test on. I just deleted a partition with 2 installs on it, and now I have 2 left. That reminds me! I need to install it again, so I can test another config.

Sounds good to me.

I also use Ace utilities to clean Junk files.
