European Delivery

Bored at work, looking at BMW website, figuring how much I'll have to make to buy my loaded M3, and I saw a little tab for European Delivery.

Honestly, this looks like such an awesome trip. I've only been to europe once, before I could drive, and being able to explore europe in a brand new BMW (or any nice car for that matter) sounds like the trip of a lifetime.

If only I was rich...

I cant really figure it out from that site, but I'm sure its not too ridiculous. And seeriously, if you're going to take a vacation in europe to buy a new luxury car, its not like the cost to ship it back is going to be a huge concern...

I did European delivery for my Mercedes. There is no extra cost -- in fact I received a 6 or 7% discount on my car. Merecedes also pays for 1 night of hotel stay. Your other nights at a hotel and airfare you have to pay out of pocket. Basically, the 6 or 7% I saved more than paid for the trip.

I did Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria.

Here's some massive pictures:

My website is down, so I'm having to use that mirror that someone gave me a while back. Here's my thread about the trip.

If you're buying the car on price alone it may not be worth it as you can get a better discount by shopping around. But if you want an all in one experience and get to tour the factory and learn more about the car company you're buying from it can be a great experience.

You can pretty much do the same thing by yourself though and might even save some money if you can haggle and get good deals on airfare and hotels. Keep in mind that you might have to wait a little while to get your car once you're back in the US. You'll fly back but your car won't 🙂

Most European luxury car makers don't budge off of MSRP. Mercedes gives the biggest discount right now, Porsche makes you pay, and I believe BMW's discount is not better than 4%. When we were at EH Harms in Munich (where we dropped off) there were several BMW owners that did the Euro delivery. Honestly, you aren't going to go haggle on a 60k car for the most part. MSRP is typically what you get.
