save up for a EuroRail pass. My buddy had one when i was over there and it was money well spent. Don't bring more than you can carry on your back. I'd suggest getting some of those space saver plastic bags for your clothes and stuff. He put a crapload into those things and it worked like a charm.

A travel guide is a GREAT investment.

first work out the main places you wanna go, then connections between them & in what order, when you have done that you will be so sick of the concept that you will want to stay home & smoke cones instead.

I'd love to go to Europe...

Incidentally, my last (and only..) girlfriend, my senior year of high school, was an exchange student from Denmark. We're still friends though, and she's told me that I'm welcome to stay at her huge house (her dad owns some big company apparently) over there any time I want. I should take her up on that some time.

Edit: Yeah, not quite backpacking, but at least it's more on-topic than a gay cruise :p

lol yeah just a bit more on topic.

Yeah i am just scared to know how much it will cost to do this.

I think the rail pass cost like 800+ for month. thats just insane for a student rate...when my mom..BACKPACKED accross eruope she said it only cost her 100.

heh

Actually...she's in town (my hometown, not my college town) this week...I need to go visit her. :D

Edit: She has IM'ed me quite a few times in the past, requesting that I go get drunk with her, lol...

(For reference, Denmark's drinking age is 15 - she turned 16 while she was over here, just turned 18 in February, and I turned 20 last November. :p)

Hey, i was on topic!

The rail pass is expensive. But if you are going to be moving a lot, it's the best thing to have. Figure out where you want to go for sure first...then go from there.

having a place to stay would help cut the costs quite a bit. Good thing.

That's all on the Euro though....so the exchange rate will be good. And hostels are nearly as expensive in mainland Europe as they are in Eng.
