Europa Universalis III + heir to the throne

So I downloaded this big boy the other day and have been playing it. Seems complicated and fun but every 30 mins or so the game pops up with an error saying "eu3game.exe has stopped working". After that I go to steam to verify files and its missing 4... replaces them then game on and the same thing happens again. I checked the forums on steam and it seems I am not the only person and nor are there any fixes that I can see.

Any help?

FYI my Computer should be able to run this game so I am not posting specs deal with it.

FWIW, I've been playing the game (EU3+All expansions including HttT) for a long, long time without a hitch. I am not using STEAM however (bought it through GamersGate). This sounds STEAM related.
Are there any other mods/expansions NOT purchased and run through STEAM you are trying to use?

I have yet to be able to play this game at all, and I bought it about a year ago. I loved Europa Universalis, and saw that not only a sequel was released, but the third one was released, so I thought i would give it a try. I can't get it to run though, and never took the time to figure out why (It is a game, and just isn't that important to me.)

Yes it does sound steam related but it seems either steam or paradox isn't doing anything about it. All I see on the paradox forums is people saying the same thing "should have got it from GamersGate" which is annoying and doesn't make me want to buy paradox games in general now. The other solution I see is buy the new expan for the game is supposed to fix that. But I get that feeling it wont fix the problem and I'll be out $20 and even be more angry. I shouldn't have to pay more money for a game I already purchased to work.

Any suggestions would help or should I chalk this up as looks like I'm never playing this game again?

That's Paradox MO. They release very buggy products; sometimes near to the point of being called broken (HoI3). They'll slowly address some of the bugs over a series of patches. But they almost always only address some of the keystone issues of the game by releasing an expansion. All their major games (EU, Vicky, HoI, CK) follow the same exact pattern.

I'm really looking forward to CK2's release, but I'm sticking to my guns and NOT buying it until it's been tried and tested by others.

Doesn't help that you want us to diagnose the problem without giving us stuff like your system specs. Are you really that embarrassed by your system specs that you won't post them?

Try reinstalling fresh is the best advise I could give, or torrent it. It doesn't have any DRM, and if you get divine wind as long as you can make a DW account on their forums paradox connect will consider it legit.

even though it seems at time they save work of the big patches and release them as expansion, it's kinda hard to be too upset at them given that they sell at a lower msrp than most other distributors and have frequent sales if you want it even cheaper. given that they do stuff not covered or done much elsewhere, i'll live with their shortcomings.

there dumbass website/forum policy is another matter though.

According to this, Heir to the Throne requires In Nominee to run properly:

The latest expansion (Divine Wind) came out a short while ago and changes quite a few aspects of the game.

Its not that, its just my system is very standard and there should be no issues considering I do not have any problems with any other games from my steam or impulse or my dvd/cds games.
