Off topic, but how do you guys like shadows of mordor? I find it interesting but I know al oat nothing about lord of the rings lore. I saw the first movie way way back when it came out and that is about it. I remember bits and pieces of it......

Would the game be as good if you don't know anything about LOTR?
I have been tittering on buying it but with fallout 4 coming and the games I have yet to finish, I keep putting it off

The game was quite good. While I enjoyed the story what I enjoyed most was the gameplay itself. There was something really satisfying about killing Uruks (orcs) or "branding" them and having them serve you. It was a really good hook.

Think Assassin's Creed style open world, with Arkham type combat. Rounded off by a system where the enemies dynamically get stronger depending on your choices.

It was a good game, but I only got about 20 hours out of it. I would pick Fallout 4 in a heartbeat, but Shadow should be getting to the point where you can pick it up for a hefty discount.

You don't need to know much about about LOTR lore to enjoy the game. I would definitely recommend it though. The Nemesis system alone is enough of a reason to buy it. Definitely one of those games where I use Steam in-home streaming and play it on my big screen TV with a wireless Xbox 360 controller.

In 32hrs I've beat the main game and the Lord of the hunt DLC, and just started the Bright Lord DLC.

If you do plan on buying it, pick it up at Bundle Stars - it's only $15, and it comes with all of the DLC.

I like that quote, wrt the 960. It probably doesn't have the oomph to really dance with a full 4GB working set, but protects against peaking over 2GB for the next 18-24 months of ownership. It was on sale for the same price as 2GB cards, so of course I got the 4GB model (for one of many machines ...)

Textures don't require much uumph themselves, and a 960 is significantly more powerful than either console. Textures I doubt actually need 100 GB/s of bandwidth, but where the pain probably is would be latency. It takes time for textures to get from main memory to swap into vram.

Most of the games benched don't really use more than 2GB. I have a Vram graph on my keyboard screen and neither Witcher 3 or Tomb raider ever go above the 2GB mark. That is with 2560x1080.

Battlefield 4 has been known to cache unused data in Vram in case it does get used, but it's just as fast with 2GB.

As has been discussed with Mordor, they should have used high textures. For the record it will use more Vram than you have if you set it to, but you have to restart the game for it to take effect.

I have yet to try Far Cry 4 ad Crysis 3 on a card with more than 2GB, but the latter had no issues whatsoever on my old 2GB 670.

GTAV or Arkham Knight would have been interesting to test. We know Watchdogs and Wolfenstien would stutter at max settings on a 2GB card.
