Are there electrical outlets (of any kind) available to the passengers? I'm headed to London to start a small 2 week train tour around France, Italy, and Switzerland. I was wondering if I could charge my Axim on the train.

If not the train than at least the train stations....just stop for like 30 min or so and plug it in...no big deal

Depends on the class, depends on the train.

But most of the trains at least had outlets in the wall in the hall so you could use that, just sit by it and read a book or something.

The newer, high-speed trains have plenty of electrical outlets: The IC and ICE trains of Germany, Eurostar, TGV of France, etc.

I didn't notice any when I went on there, but I didn't have anything to charge, so I didn't go out of my to look (so I could be wrong). I think the Eurostar did that went from England to France, but I didn't notice any on the TGV. Most of the TGV's are pretty old, from the late 80's.

The TGV was especially enjoyable to ride on, they were ultra-fast. I thought it was awesome riding around on them.

The bathrooms are a good place to charge. Worked for me.

Edit: don't forget to check that your power supply works over there.
