EULA wizards: burnt out motherboard and OEM Vista

If I understand the EULA right, an OEM can only be used for one motherboard and one CPU.
As far as I know, maybe the *only* way to avoid having to pay for another Vista 64 Premium OEM would be to purchase the *exact* same motherboard and CPU, and just let things go from there. I have an AMD board/chip. Certainly, if I understand correctly, I couldn't buy a replacement Intel CPU and compatible motherboard.

If I'm wrong with any of this, please let me know.

In theory, yes, your license is tied to your hardware. But, if your old computer "blows up" and that's why you have to replace the motherboard, nobody is going to tell you you can't reactivate if you end up calling for manual activation when the time comes.

If the previous motherboard burns out and there is no exact replacement available you can use an equivalent. The idea is that you get a dirt cheap copy of the OS with the understanding you won't try and game the system and somehow get a new PC and reuse the old OS.

In your case you aren't really using an equivalent are you? Basically you're not just replacing the motherboard, you're replacing the motherboard with something that is clearly not equivalent and swapping a CPU as well. MS isn't going to take advantage of your blown-motherboard misery to cackle and ask you for a wad of cash. Ask yourself: are you taking advantage of them not taking advantage?
