Eug's Prius 2004 (Pix!)

The 2004 has better handling and a better setup than the 2001. Vehicle stability control helps on the snow too.

Strange way to turn on and to park the car though. To turn it on you just press the power on button (with the key still in your pocket). To drive, you move the shift lever to "D", but the lever immediately pops back to its usual position. In other words, it simply acts as an electronic switch. You can't move the shift lever to "P" either, because "P" doesn't exist on the lever. Instead, you just press a separate "P" button.

I wonder..what is the policy for recyling the NiMH batteries in the Prius???

Good for you, good mileage and cleaner emissions. The prius is a fine automobile

I can't wait till this technoligy is implemented in other models in other brands. I personally dislike Toyota, but the technoligy in the Prius is sweet.

Dunno what happens to the batteries after they're replaced. The warranty is 8 years though.

How is road noise on the highway?
Dunno. Haven't been on the highway yet. 😉 My 2001 had moderate noise. Not super loud, but not luxury car quiet either.

Can it comfortably cruise around 65 MPH?
I would assume so, considering my lower powered 2001 Prius could comfortably cruise at 85 mph.

That's a nice color and cool features.

The thing is tho, despite all toyota's talk about the new model being significantly stronger than the last design, it seems like it's barely any faster than the last model.

I'm pretty anxious actually to see how the hybrid accord V6 turns out.

Doh! I just realized the rear view mirror has a built-in garage door opener. RTFM. (I was looking all over for the opener, and thought my dealer forgot to give it to me. 😛)

I'd like to see them do it to a lot of other vehicles, because unfortunately the superb gas mileage of any number of econoboxes now - even if only half as good as a prius, still means you're paying damn little for gas. If they can drop this in some SUVs and larger vehicles where gas really can start chewing into one's budget, then it would be more attractive to me.

The screen in the middle is neato though 😛

well the thing about the new upcoming accord is that supposedly it sacrifices nothing in the power. It's pretty much the original V6 with cylinder deactivation. On top of that, you get a electric motor which boosts output even more. So you get more power than the current V6 accords, but gas mileage better than the 4 cylinder.

If that car turns out well, I am considering buying it.

Cool, thanks for the info.

V6 power without sacrificing fuel economy = 🙂

No nav available in Canada. All of them have the screen though.

Headlights are stock. There is no upgrade available in Canada. I did get the fog lamps though.

Very nice Eug and love the colour.

The keyfob looks sweet!

Very cool! I've already decided that my next car is going to be a hybrid of some sort. I would like to get one after I graduate.

What are hte mods for that screen Eug?
Not sure for the 2004 but for the 2001 it's an XM audio system with video input (including for DVD) and/or rear video camera (for backing up).

You mean like these?

Toyota is going to intro hybrid versions of the Highlander and RX330 sometime this year...it'll be interesting to see how those turn out.
