Eudora vs. Thunderbird?

I've been using Eudora since 1992, but everyone seems to like TBird so much that I am tempted to switch. Call it a desire to use OSS after having worked on an OS project this past summer (yes, I've recently switched to FF).

Wow, that's quite an endorsement. I take your comments to mean that there aren't any features that you miss from good, old Eudora.

Heh, and you're in an NBA Live league -- this adds much credibility to your comments. :)

There's nothing in Eudora that isn't in TB.
TB handles everything better too.
Dithc Eudora

Oh and if you ever want to run one in NBA LIVE hit me up :)

Another Eudora to TB convertee here. Tbird DEFINITELY handles IMAP a lot better than anything out there. Eudora used to be awesome, but it felt like their development just became stagnant. You have to pay for their antispam filter. Tbird has that built in. Tbird seems more customizable, too. Now if only I could get Thunderbird to have a setup like Outlook's integrated calendaring system that sync'ed with a Palm, I would be set. Last I checked Sunbird wasn't quite up to that integration, yet.

Now you make me want to cry... an OS alternative to my Palm Desktop software? That would be reason enough to move to TB + this "Sunbird" you mention.

Right, time to go install TBird and give it a whirl. Thanks, fellas!

So it's installed. It took a couple of minutes to import Eudora settings, and then another couple to correct them (doh!). It only messed-up the SSL stuff, which is not too bad. My question now, though, is how do I import old mail? (I imagine it's obvious but I would appreciate any tips or tricks)

For the moment I have both progs running so I can compare. :D

So I'm sold. Today I made TBird my default email client!

I've just started adding extensions. The dictionary extension is da bomb!
