Do I dare again?
This time I drove there and got the actual ad.

No strings attached are:
Qualcomm Eudora Pro Email _________SKU 392600 ______price: 40$

Sonic Foundry Acid DJ _____________SKU 429034 ______price: 40$

Sonic Foundry Siren Jukebox _______SKU 429034 ______price: 30$

Data Becker CD Labelmaker _________SKU 427918 ______price: 13$

Peachtree Accounting 8.0 (still?) _SKU 438617 ______price: 150$

Simply Accounting 8 _______________SKU 442356 ______price: 100$

All are free after mfr mail in rebate and do NOT need to be purchased with Win ME.

These are perfect be combined with your main purchases, to lift your total in reach of the famous coupons. I myself ran out of those microsoft titles...

I copied this info from an ad that shall be available tomorrow 14.Sep 2000.
I don't know if they will be available at staples.com .
Good luck.

The items show on .com with those sku's, but no mention of rebates yet. Maybe in the morning. I don't feel like driving to Staples. ;)

Did anyone have problem in getting manufacturer rebate of the purchases from Staples.com? Staples.com only sent me the packing slip in all my orders and the rep said the slip has all needed rebate information. However, most rebates require a copy of sales receipt.

You can get Eudora Pro as a free download if you can live with a small advertising box in the lower left corner of your screen. On my 19" monitor I don't even notice it.

Take note. The Eudora deal at Staples (OD had it last week) is a $30 rebate from Staples + $10 rebate on the Eudora box. Not only is it hard to do two mail rebates for an item (would need 2 UPC's), the $10 rebate is long expired.

Eudora is the best email software, I have not heard anything about any security problem.

I have used Eudora for years now as it was the suggested email product at the University of Wisconsin where I work. It is great.

The mail in rebates are now posted in the REBATE area of Staples website, but not at the item location. Rebates seem to all start 9/13/00.

Midnight Rambler:
I just returned from a Staples store and got Eudora Pro. It has a 40$ mfr mir straight.
This and the CD Labelmaker are the two useful items.

Somebody mentioned that the $10 rebate has expired for Eudora and that you could not use both the rebates. The $30 rebate I used when I bought Eudora from Comp USA last week said right on it you could use it with the $10 rebate and use a copy of the UPC. The $10 rebates has an old expiration date on it, but if you go to the Eurdora web site and do a search on "rebate", you will find a note stating that the rebate is extended and will be honored until the end of the year. I printed a copy of the note and included it with my $10 rebate submission, just in case. So yes, you can get the excellent Eudora pro for free as advertised, if a store is selling it for $40 and you get the $30 coupon along with the $10 rebate that is on the box. I dumped Microsoft Outlook Express and am in love with Eudora Pro. Much better handling of multiple email accounts, real time spell checking, background email checking and downloading, and great filtering.

Free Eudora is good. However, be aware that this is version 4.2, and that the latest released version is now 5.0.

If you own the paid version of 4.3, then the upgrade to 5.0 is free. However, with this version (4.2), the "special" upgrade price is currently $29.95.

Still a good deal, especially if it allows you to get free shipping and use one of the dollar-off coupons available elsewhere.

I bought two copies of the Eudoro Pro from my local Staples last week for the $30/$10 rebate. While the box said it was version 4.2, inside the box the manual and the CD were version 4.3.

For anyone concerned about switching to Eudora, it's about 10 times faster than Outlook (I'm not exaggerating) and is a joy to use in comparison to that buggy resource hog from MS. I have three email accounts for checking at home. Outlook would often take about a minute or so to download the mail, if it could at all because it could never check Yahoo for some reason. Eudora downloads everything in under 5-10 seconds and has only had one occasion when it couldn't access Yahoo's server. I've used Eudora for several years (keeps getting erased on reformats though) and despise having to use Outlook at work.

A better product than the Microsoft standard. Go figure.

So lemme see if I have this right...

Buy Eudora (btw, v5.0 was released today... ugh, MoodWatch) for $40
Buy Sonic Foundry Siren for $30

Rebate thru Staples on Eudora for $30
Rebate thru Eudora for $10
Rebate thru Staples on Siren for $30
Coupon for $20 off $50 for Staples

Did I just get 2 of the best apps in their class and a crisp $20 for my efforts? Or will the $20 off $50 negate the other rebates?

Btw, one more VERY important thing for those considering the switch to Eudora. While it is, imnsho, a better email app than Outlook, and also was not susceptible to those nasties like I Love You, there was one thing that made Eudora a no-brainer for me.

When you wanna reformat your drive and reinstall Windows, all you need to do to save EVERYTHING in Eudora, is copy the folder to somewhere safe, and then copy it back after your os is back. That just can't be done with Outlook. Even exporting & importing data from Outlook won't save everything in this scenario. That cinched Eudora for me.

As RobD said, the Eudora version on the box says 4.2, but inside is V.4.3 with a small paper that states that upgrades to V.5 are free.

Eudora Pro is nice because it's definitely user friendly and friendly towards people who require a format and a reinstallation of their OS. Recently, I had a crash but I was able to save my inbox, trash, and outgoing files (which are tiny) and everything was restored back to normal.

Another note: If you are a student at certain universities, they allow you to download this program for free.

<< The mail in rebates are now posted in the REBATE area of Staples website >>

Note the rebates I checked said "Rebate applies to Sonic Foundry Sonic Jukebox or Acid DJ purchased at Staples stores only."

Has anyone spoken with a CSR (yeah, I know, bad idea) to ensure the rebates apply to staples.com as well?

Edited: Never mind...I called & the rebates are valid for the .com. Interesting note: Siren Jukebox isn't listed on a rebate by itself -- only on the combined rebate with Acid DJ...

There's a link to the rebate on the page for each item. As far as I'm concerned, that means they're offering the rebate on their web site as well as in the store. If not, I hope they're prepared for a lengthy phone discussion. ;)

edit:
If you look at the Siren/Acid rebate, it does say OR. It should work fine, but as always, keep copies of web pages until you get the check.

jdparsons, why do you say this?
The .com HAS the CD Labelmaker software (SKU IM1180964) , it is a few $ more, but they match their own B&M price.
The thing is that they have issued special SKU's for some of these "special offer" items.
I guess it is just to be able to calculated it better, as a large portion of this promotional offers will be carried by Microsoft.
