Ethics question

My physics teacher is a pretty nice guy, but his "weakness" I guess, is that he buys the best of everything when it comes out, in this case a video card. He bought a 256 mb 9800 pro to replace his "old" 9600 pro. Because of his nature, I don't know if he knows how much it's worth, so I'd feel bad picking it up off of him, but I'm building a new computer for myself right now, and it'd save me a bundle.

So do I tell him that he's getting suckered, or do I just call him a fool and buy the card?

It isn't your job to school him on the worth of products. Ask him what he wants and buy it if the price is right.

The 9600pro is old. If he buys the best why didn't he pick up an ATI 800xt?

They guy's an idiot, buy it from him.

He bought it some time back, before he knew about the x800.

I'd still buy the 9600 from him 🙂

Thing is, if you buy it and then he finds out he was suckered, that could be ugly. I wouldnt pass up on a good deal, but dont totally rip him off either...

If he knows you well and knows you really want and will use it, rather than just looking for a deal on <whatever, insert product here>, maybe he's doing it as a favor to you?

If he gives you a super low price offer to give a bit more reasonable price? If hes ok with his original price then score for you! 😀

the 50$ was his offer, but he didn't seem to sure of it at all.

Sorry about not mentioning the price.

Wait, a grown man bought a $400 video card, and is now selling it, 4 or 5 months later for $50? What is he thinking?

he's thinking he can afford to spend $400 on a video card every 5 months and doesn't need to worry about making money off old pc parts. he's willing to trade something of little to no value (to him) for a days worth of spending cash.

i don't see an ethical problem here.

A fool and his money are soon parted. Who are you to stand in the fool's way if he does so of his own free will?

If he replaces parts like that all the time he is USED to losing his ass on 6 month old parts. Maybe a nice low $50 price and a quick sale to a student is better than market price on e-bay...

My physics teacher is a hippie who has smoked himself insanely retarded. He can't think anymore. My class (which is an honors class) actually ends up teaching HIM how to do stuff (we all take AP Calc, and we're many times smarter than him).

Also, he's all about saving the environment and drives a Geo Metro or an EGO (an electric moped thing) when the weather is warm.

I think my physics teacher is worse. It's my favorite science, but unfortunately, I've been forced to learn the stuff on my own becasue my teacher is insanely retarded from doing too many drugs early in his life.
