I'm not sure what's going on...When I'm at home, I always have the wifi turned off on my laptop and connect through the LAN line. Yesterday, I took my laptop elsewhere and had to use wireless. It seemed to take a very long time to actually recognize the wireless network and enable an internet connection (even after being connected for a few minutes), but it worked after that.

So, I come home...turn off wifi on my laptop, plug in the ethernet cable...It connects to my network, but says it's "unrecognized" and won't let me connect to the internet (though I can access all network computers and such). When I turn on wifi, I can connect to the internet (but the connection isn't too good where my laptop is at).

What's going on? I've tried everything I can think of...BTW, I'm using a Buffalo wireless router (I forget the model, but it's REALLY popular with custom firmware) running the latest tomato firmware.

Edit: Nevermind. WTH? My settings were, for some unknown reason, set to NOT automatically detect my network settings (IP address, etc). I NEVER touched that, so I don't know why it changed to be non-auto...WTF. Oh well, it's working now.

I've had that happen a few times on my Latitude D630. I uninstalled the NIC, reinstalled it and it works again. Mine would actually sit there for minutes on end saying trying to acquire an IP address. It's done it twice in the last year and both times I've had to reinstall the NIC drivers.
