Ethernet Extenders...

Now, I consider myself to have above average knowledge as far as networking goes, but someone just showed me a device which can extend Ethernet over an active 1-Pair voice line at 100mbit full duplex speeds, without impacting the ability to make voice calls over the line, and I just can't wrap my head around it.

Here's the device: http://ethernetextender.com/et...et%20extenders/860.php

How reliable is something like this, and how the hell does it work?!

Uses broadband frequencies (multiples) instead of baseband like ethernet.

I've always hated those things. Nothing but trouble.

My guess would be that the first unit modulate the info onto a lower frequency carrier that loses less signal with distance on a regular Tel. line while the second unit demodulates it back.

Download the PDF data sheet there is info about Speed and range that is Not exactly as the general statement of 6000ft.
