Hey guys i just got a new " Enter Ethernet card E-100e " and i fit it into my motherboard.

The problem is it wont get detected or it gets wrongly detected.
In device manager it shows

This is the Ethernet card

I have the Driver cd . I have Installed the driver too.
On the Box it says it is win7 supported.
When i put my lan wire in it, the light shows up but nothing else happens.

My Rig

Amd Phenom x2 545 3.00ghz
Msi 785gt -e63 Mainboard
Nvidia Gts 250-1gb Gpu
4Gb Ram ddr2

I have no clue if it is working or not as my computer doesn't say anything.

Out of curiosity why do you need a ethernet card on that mobo, what is wrong with the o/b lan? As to why the card is showing as a storage controller is probably a conflict issue, have you tried changing the psi slot? But again I am wondering why you need it in the first place?

I want to use both of my lan and my internet at the time same.
currently i only use the internet and thus everytime i want to use the lan i have to remove the internet cable and put the lan cable in.
Having both in at the same time will save me a lot of time.

I also cannot change the slot as the slot is covered by my graphics card.

My ethernet card fits only till here. Is this the problem??

so you connect to the internet how? Do you have a cable/dsl modem? Does the modem have a usb port and a LAN port (some have both) Is your local network connected to the internet through a router?

Yes my lan is via seperate router(My private) and my internet is via a different router (owned by internet provider).

I am trying to put my lan via the ethernet card i purchased (via my own router).

It only has Lan ports.

Yes my local network is connected to the internet through a router managed by my internet provider.

But this comes into matter if my card is in first place working.

I am trying to make my lan work from my ethernet card i purchased.

You've got a hardware problem with the detection of that card, it seems. The PCI config space is not reading right. Wrong tuples.

Regardless, this is the wrong solution to the problem. The proper solution is to buy a router.

So let me get this straight. 1) You have a router connected to a modem, both provided my your ISP. 2) You have a second router which you purchased and use it to connect your home network to the internet via the router provided by your ISP is this correct? If yes, then what is the make and model of your private router? It needs to be set up as a wireless repeater or repeater/bridge (if wired). Adding a LAN card in this setup is redundant. If anything a wireless adapter (PCIe) would have been a better choice.

I'm not getting what are you saying fully...but this is my reply to what I understood.

1) I have a cable that provides me internet via a Router (Owned/Setup by my ISP) no modem involved.

2) I purchased a router (plug and play) and a lot of cable (connected to my friends computers - we play games in this home network) This works as i have played with my friends a many of times. This has no connection to a modem.
The only problem is that when i have to play with my friends i have to remove the internet cable and put in the other cable to connect to their computers for lag-less multiplayer gaming.

That is why i purchased a ethernet card hoping the Internet provinding cable and the other cable are in my computer at the same time so i can acess the internet and play with my friends at the same time.

The internet Providing cable is Plugged in my O/B slot and the other cable (which i use for lan-play purposes) in the ethernet card.

Possibly an IRQ (Interrupt Request) conflict? In your BIOS there should be an option...it might be buried...look for it. Something like "Reset all ESCD data" or something like that. Essentially, what that does is tell your motherboard "OK, we're starting from scratch. There was nothing connected to you, now there is some stuff connected to you. Find it all and assign IRQ's." That might be your problem.

Why are they separate? If you don't want certain systems in the "private" network to be internet accessible, there are steps you can take to ensure that even while they are on the same physical network.

I am not allowed the do any changes to my ISP's router.
Also my net speed is not that great for me to send huge files to my friends comp or so via the internet.

Using a totally different router only used by me and my friends and also controlled by us doesn't put limit of download speed in our network. Thus we can send files the size of 1GB or more in seconds.

I have looked for that option for about an hour and i still couldn't find it.
I will still search even more and will update you if i find it.

You should still be able to share files on your private network to your friends at the same speed, this is the wrong solution to the problem.

How many ports does your ISP-provided router have?

If it is enough to plug in all the computers that you want to use, then just plug each computer directly into it, problem solved. Any local traffic (i.e. from your computer to a friend's) will not go out onto the Internet, instead it will be switched within the router.

If your ISP-provided router does not have enough ports, then what you need is a switch (example). Plug that into your ISP-provided router with one port (doesn't matter which for the D-link that I linked) and plug the rest of your computers into the switch as well. The switch automatically forwards traffic based on destination, so all data that is destined for the Internet will go to the ISP-provided router, and all other traffic will go to the computer it's destined for.

Thank you all for your time.

I have solved the problem.

The thing i did was i took my internet cable and put it in my router (I had 1 slot left).
Thus letting me acess the internet and my friends computers at the same time.

Btw i returned that card as it was too much trouble making it detect as the correct thing.
