Ethernet card causing system freezes...

OK... I'll make it simple:

1. When my ethernet card (linksys Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapter (NC100 v2)) is plugged into my computer, as soon as Win98 finishes loading up the desktop, the system freezes 90% of the time.

I have to go inside my case each time and jiggle the card around and pray that it doesn't freeze each time.\

Also, when the Ethernet card is in, and I run WinAmp or Half-Life (or any other program that has sound in it), my system freezes randomly, too.

2. When I don't have the card inside the computer, everything works fine.

...

So what do I do? Is it a faulty PCI slot? Is there anything I can do in Win98 to prevent my ethernet card from making my system freeze? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Chris

P.S. My drivers are all updated...

My Linksys NIC hates to share IRQ's with anything. You can do whatever you want to fenagle this into possibility, and it will likely help your problems. I think it could be solved with good drivers -- but windows exercises too much control over hardware on its own. I never had a problem with it in Linux with the Tulip drivers where I have control.

My Linksys Ethernet will share just fine with USB . . . but nothing else. See your PCI slot sharing table in your mobo manual and adjust accordingly. You have a classic IRQ conflict.
