I'm having trouble using this router. The model is BEFSR41. The problem is as soon as I got this router and connected my house up to it their have been differences from if I was just directly connected to my cable modem. When I was connected directly to my cable modem(RCN 2-WAY) I could log onto MIRC IDENTD servers. Now when I'm connected to my Router it says IDENTD not found please install IDENTD. Everything is enabled. I don't understand the problem. Also when I try to connect to a Host on an FTP i can connect but I can't go through their directoy of files they have. When I was connected to cable I could see everything. With the router it just stalls and doesn't move. I think it's because of the firewall NAT. People have told me their is no way to shut it off, but is their really no way? And if their is no way is their a way I can open those specific ports up. I tried fowarding, but it doesnt work. Someone please help me.......

yep, it's because of the firewall.

the irc issue: forward port 113 to the the lan ip from which you irc. ident should then work.

the ftp issue: try fooling around with the passive mode. i'm not really sure how this is fixed really. NAT is kinda flakey.

What is the ip address for the 113?
How do i mess with the passive mode?
And is their really no way of disabling NAT?

port 113 gets forwarded to whatever the LAN ip is that you irc from.

example:

24.*.*.* -----router--------/client1- 192.168.1.100 -LAN IP
|..............................................\client2- 192.168.1.101 -LAN IP
WAN IP

if you were irc'ing from client1(192.168.1.100) for example you would forward requests on port 113 to 192.168.1.100.

hope this helps.

Edit: just try to ignore those periods. my little diagram did not come out the way i wanted it to so i had to slap them in there.

I tried that already, but I don't care anymore about identD servers I'll just log onto a server that doesnt require it, but I do thank you alot I MEAN ALOT! For telling me about the passive mode. I changed my configurations in my BPFTP program and I chose passive and I am able to see poeple's files!!! I THANK YOU SO MUCH! thanks again this forum is the sh**!
