I have a video that would likely make my issue way more clear, but I'll put it in words.

I hooked up my Gigabyte z97x gaming 5 mobo 12x2 to my 750w corsair cx750m, clicked in my ram into slot 1 and 2. (grey color instead of black) and looked to see if it would power up. ran an HDMI from on-board port to my TV. the fans come on, spin for a second, and turn back off, wait, spin again, off, wait, spin, off, wait. repeat. I don't know what the problem could be.

I have checked standoffs, I have firmly pressed all the power cables in, seated the ram... cleared CMOS (I think) nothing seems to be getting rid of this problem!

please help me get my rig running.

By "12x2", you mean the ATX 24-pin mobo connector? Did you also connect the AUX12V 2x2 or 4x2 connector? Be careful not to confuse that with a PCI-E 6+2 connector, if the mobo has an 8-pin.

Also, did you install a CPU?

Yes. CPU is in. I'll look over my cables, but it shouldn't spin the fans if the power cables aren't in correctly.

all cables are in correctly. the power supply is cx750m which labels the cables so they go to the right places, I checked all of the labels, put them where they go. 8-pin in the cpu power, 24 pin in the mobo power, and pci-e 6+2 and 6 in the gpu.

Yep. All cables are connected properly. my CPU fan has its own connector, so fan_1 is empty

Is the speaker plugged in?

+1

It may be throwing beep codes to indicate the problem. Also, what specific CPU are you installing? Depending upon the model, the motherboard may need an updated BIOS to support certain model CPUs.
