but now i want to protect it from scratches and stuff. is there some kind of clear coating i can apply to it to keep it protected?

thanks guys.

I would think that plastic wrap might do the trick but I'm not sure... I'm still in the planning process for my plexiglass window/side panel.

Why? I mean if you coat it, and the coating gets scratched, isn't that the same thing? (unless you can take the coating off)...I have a window and it doesn't get scratched...pic

What about using some of that clear plastic that is stick on one side. It is used to protect papers, it is kinda like laminating a paper but does not require the heat or equipment to do it. That away you could just peel it off and put on a new piece if it gets scratched.

I don't know if contact paper would be a great idea...it's a real pain in the ass to get off, leaves a lot of residue and because it is pretty flimsy, could possibly warp or bubble up if your case gets really hot.

I would suggest using an art spray, like the kind painters use to protect canvas once they're done. Krylon makes a clear acrylic spray, but if you dont' get even coverage then it might look crappy.

If you can find it, probably a sheet of static-cling plastic would work. And here i don't mean Glad Wrap, but like that rubberized stuff they make removable stickers out of. It's easy to cut, and easy to remove/reposition and it doesn't leave a residue.

Don't ask me where to find any tho
