ETAs (for ATI X8XX cards) again pushed ahead and ahead and ahead....

(sorry, posted that in G.H. yesterday...neverthless....)

i want to remind you that ATI stated (not long ago) that their new cards, eg. X800XL, X850XT PE etc. might be available "end of 2004...maybe even for christmas".

I got very excited beginning 2005 with many online vendors listing eg, the ATI X850XT PE with an ETA of "beginning of january".

I pre-ordered a X850XT PE when the ETA was January, 7th.

The ETA was pushed to january, 10th. Well...now the ETA for the ATI X850XT PE is set to "January, 27th"....with some warehouses (same vendor) listing dates of END OF FEBRUARY.

UPDATE: The ETA for this and other vendors is all set to February, 25 th !

They changed thr ETA 4 times over this weekend. basically everytime i checked the ETA went up.

Another guy over at rage3d has two X850XT PEs on pre-order..and he just called half a dozen vendors and they all gave him ETAs of END OF FEBRUARY !

--> There we have it ! Same **** as last year.

If you WANT a high-end pci express card, if you want ANYTHING better than a measly 6600 pciex then get a freaking dell. Because thats where all the X850XT PEs are. Also, the ones which (supposedly) are available on ebay (for $1000) are probably all pulled off dells.

There is/was no newer ATI cards "end of december", there is none "beginning of january"....i doubt we might see them before march.

ATI said they will be available in masses....so..ok....as said i preordered and a bunch of other people too. WHERE ARE THE CARDS ????????

Addendum:

I also want to remind you that the X850XT (NOT PE !)..well i have never ever even seen/read anything about this card.
I think that ATi deliberately just made a few X850XT PEs and sent it out to reviewers so they get nice benchmarks....otherwise i cant explain why there are at least SAMPLES of X850XT PE out but NOTHING about a X850XT.

Also...i remember that i heard somewhere that the ETAs for the X800XL are supposed to be even AFTER the X850XT cards...i might err there. Its irrelevant anyway 🙂

Several cards that were announced long ago are still in very short supply or non existent from both ATI and NV. You can pre-order an X800XL at ATI now, though. 😀

The same thing happens with every new round of video cards, it seems.

And that's being conservative. Count on late March, that's if ATI doesn't email you back saying "CANCELLED YOUR ORDER DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND."

Yeah, they will probably take every single order that comes in on their site, and only send out the 8 or 9 cards they actually have, and cancel all the rest of the orders.

I wanted a X800XL dammit. But I'm not playing this game.

Buy a Dell with ATI X850XT PE. Sell the card on Ebay for insane amount and enjoy your free Dell.

ok..then you have a free dell..but no card.....DUH 🙂 But you can always buy a pulled one off ebay for $900000 i guess 🙂
