I wondering when they will go retail as I am deciding if I can add that into my build.

If anyone knows anything please say something.

Nice, the Boss is among us! 😉 Sounds good for an ETA, I might look into those once they get < $100

Creative has released a new line of soundcards in the late August to early October time frame every year since 1998 when the original Live! was released (99' Live! Platinum, 00' Live! Platinum 5.1, 01' Audigy, 02' Audigy 2, 03' Audigy 2 ZS, 04' Audigy 4 Pro). It doesn't take incredible insight to guess that's probably when their next release will take place in 2005.

Creative's site has a countdown on it saying new information will be released about X-Fi in a bit under 2 days. Maybe an official product announcement is forthcoming.

Sound Blaster

Let me guess, its the same sound blaster live chip theyve re-released to us 7 times now, with a slight SNR increase, and now the drivers are 450MB instead of 200MB.

no no its is actually different this time, its no audigy 4 scenario here. if you can find some specs/ previews to read up on you'll get the picture

I think they have something new this time....

yes, Creative have a reputation for hype...

but this time, even Anand seem abit intrested this time.....

I am sure quite alot of people have knowledge of this card but can't say coz is still under NDA....

One of the first games to implement its features btw is BF-2...

I am optimistic that it will be something, "revolutionary"...unlike the audigy line which has dragged on for a couple of years...

I would expect this card to cost atleast a good 200 - 300 USD..

Yeah, they're going to cost a lot im sure. I'm going to look into getting one later on when there's actually some value behind them. Good sound cards have a much longer lifecycle than most PC parts....been using my Audigy 2 ex through 2 major upgrades already, and about to be a third.

I havent seen a reason to upgrade a soundcard since the sound blaster live value.

I have upgraded since then to newer cards, but that was more of a "because i can for the same price" type of thing, as opposed to, "this performs or sounds better than the previous gen".

Ive listened to the Audigy 2 and SBL! side by side on megaworks speakers and klipesch 5.1s and i really, really cant tell the difference if im not listening for it intentionally.

Well major reason I upgraded because of the newer EAX features.

I noticed it too, and I'm pretty excited about the fact that they claim that it'll make even your regular old sounding stuff sound like 24 bit. Of course, I'm going to wait on the reviews for that to see if the average gamer can tell the difference. A big selling point for me as well will be if it will be natively supported by COD2

it will cost around 200-500$ because creative will release two models. one highend and midrange. and it will probably be a year till we see prices below 200$
