ESTOOL cleared RAID

A couple of months ago I built a new computer with two Samsung Spinpoint HD103SJ setup in RAID 1 with a ASUS P7P55D-E Pro motherboard. I've had continuous problems since then with the drives failing and my RAID getting degraded. I was beginning to suspect that it wasn't actually my drives so to confirm this I ran the Samsung ESTOOL software last night on each. It in fact found that neither of the drives have errors, confirming my suspicion that something is funky on the motherboard (and a BIOS flash is next on my agenda). But after running the test, the motherboard no longer recognizes that the drives are in RAID and I can't boot my computer. Is there anyway to restore the drives to RAID without wiping everything? I've backed up fairly recently and won't lose much but I'd really rather not go through an entire reinstall if I don't have to. Thanks.

What are you using for a RAID controller? Sounds like that is not working. You should be able to connect one of the drives as a stand alone and boot from it. You may have to rebuild the RAID 1 array. Does the boot cycle show that as "Functional.?"

I'm using the Intel RAID controller. I agree that it's probably not working but my BIOS has been acts a little funky too. i.e. I can't seem to get it to turn off the "quick" boot screen, no matter what the settings are. That's why I was hoping flashing the BIOS would fix the problem rather than having to correct the motherboard. But right now I'd like to be able to at least get the hard drives recognized as RAID again without wiping everything.

I think that you are mistaken. ATI's web site was "ati.ca". "ati.com" was owned by Allied Telesyn. (old internet fogies should remember this)
