735-785, sweet! It was 740 last time I checked, I think...not bad for a 22 year old, right?

A question though (i didn't want to start a whole thread on it): I'm getting a used car soon, loan to be in the amount of roughly 9-10K. I also would like to get a new platinum card, something with rewards, like the Chase Manhattan or CitiBank...would it be better to apply for either of them first, or doesn't it matter? Obviously the car's more important, but I was just wondering.

Feel free to PM me the answer.

I got 665-715. I have a question though, anyone know of a good monitoring service or just a yearly report from all three credit agencies? The myFICO site looks cool, but $40 a year seems steep!

Mine's so bad I blue-screened!!

:Q

Seriously, though, since I'm looking to get into a house again in the next few months, I went ahead and got the MyFICO "Must-Have", found a 20%-off coupon that saved about $7. Got my 3 scores and have several mistakes I need to clear up ASAP that will boost me about 60-80 points.

I wasn't aware that they offered credit monitoring for all 3 credit bureau's.

I knew you could pull credit bureau's from the 3 bureau's, but active credit monitoring for all 3?

It wouldnt give me a score! I have never had a CC (other than a VISA bank card) and I have never taken out a loan. I just applied for the Citi Dividends card... am I going to get it? I have never had a loan and im making good money (though I just started).

Vic,

Quick question bud. I have means of pulling credit through work. Do you know if this counts as a an attempt to apply for credit?

Hey Kevin, sorry I missed this post (3 months ago 😱 ).

Yes, that would be a "hard pull" and would show as an inquiry on your credit. If you haven't had a lot of inquiries (i.e. less than 5 in the past year), then any damage to would be very minimal, if any at all.
I pull my own credit from work at least once a year, but then again, that is usually my only inquiry for the whole year.
A note about inquiries: the FICO credit scoring model takes everything about your credit into account EXCEPT what your last pulled score was.
