i always see estate auctions in the paper, and was just wondering if anyone had ever been to one? can u get pretty good deals there?
 
yeah i love estate auctions.

You can get some great deals. I got a nice couch and love seat for $5. about a month ago i seen a new computer system go with a laser printer and monitor for $150 (i bid up to $125. i didnt have much cash).

they are a lot of fun. you can find some good stuff at em.
 
worked for my uncle who is an auctioneer for a coupe years. Yeah, you can get good deals. But, there's plenty of dumb people that pay more for some items than you can buy them for new in the store. Just know what you are buying and what it is actually worth. Don't get caught up in bidding and pay too much for an item.
 
I was just at one this morning... had a great time. Not a lot of "deals" to be found (although the tractor that sold for 2250 was about 750 below what we expected)

But, my wife did end up with a beautiful set of what could best be described as a southwest style ceramic thingies. Got 2 for $30.... great deal, I think. (signed, numbered, from Italy, and very old)
