Essay tests are fun!

atleast this teacher gave us the questions before hand, well, some extra ones, but there will be 4 questions, worth 25 points each.

i guess i should start figuring out what the hell they are talking about.

essay > multiple choice

plus, the teacher giving out the questions beforehand just means you have to prepare more as they'll be marked much harder than if you weren't given the topics.

I always did well on essay-weighted exams. If you can write semi-coherently with a basic understanding of course material you're going to get at least a 70% on an essay.

All my exams are short-answer/essay. They require you to actually learn and be able to apply the material. You're lucky you got the questions before hand. I would never do that.

issue 1 being, i cant find the one book they are based on.

i think i am gunna go drive up to campus in an hour, purchase the book, and read what i need to read, then find the other book in the library, and read that.

The hardest tests I have taken in college have been multiple choice.

Gotta love the following:

I) Something
II) Something
III) Something
IV) Something
V) Something

Then your choices:
A) I, II, III
B) I, III
C) I, IV
D) I, II, III, IV, V
E) None of the above

Those tests are always fun

Well it wouldn't matter what type of test you're taking since you haven't read the material. 😉

At least with the essays, you can concoct something using the topics provided and probably come out okay. If this was multiple choice, you'd be screwed.

I prefer essay tests to multiple choice myself. Like UNESCO said, you can BS your way though an essay question a lot easier than an MC question.

well, im going down to the campus bookstore and buying the book as soon as my brother gets home, and i can patch the hole in the wall.

then im going to read the 100 pages in that book that the test is over

then i have 200 pgs in another book to read, but i will be focusin on the essay questions as i read and joting down notes for them.

I used to have a teacher that thought it was funny to have multiple choice, multiple guess with A-M choices. You had to then prove why you chose what you did by deriving the solutions starting from the fundamentals. You also had to disprove accordingly. The exam was 1 question, 2 hrs with an extention of the time to 4 hrs.

I'd arrange an "accident" for that professor.

Yeah multiple choice can be a killer. In my OS fundamentals course, we had one section of T/F which was worth roughly twenty percent of the exam. If you got one of the questions right, you got two points. However, if you got one of the questions wrong, the prof subtracted two points from your overall mark for the test. The class average for the T/F was 4/20. Count your blessings I guess hehe 🙂

The worst part of this professor was that he knew he was being a dick. He knew everybody knew he was a dick. And he delivered these exams with a sh1t-eating grin on his face acknowledging the fact that he was a dick. He was the kind of guy that you just wanted to roll up a newspaper and integrate it with his face.
