Essay: Need topic on new network technology

I'm not really an IT guy here so I was wondering if anyone here could help me. I need to write an essay on some form of new networking technology or hardware/software that deals with networks.

I was thinking of writing about the new 802.11 standard? Is it 802.11.. well it could be something else but I'll look into that.

Any other topics you guys could suggest?

dont write about 802.11 its soo played out, write about blue tooth or maybe storage area networks or maybe iSCSI
