hear hear. I hate that bastard. He talks as if he was some great player. He's a career bench warmer. I just loved it when he was talking smack about Jeff Garcia, how he couldn't do this and that. Garcia goes out and wins 6 straight. Salisbury shuts his pie hole about it.

If he didn't when ever I run into Garcia's father I would ask that he tell his son to tell salisbury to shove it.

As for Irvin although at times he was annoying and made wild statements unlike Salisbury and Hodges he has a legit football career to back it up.

oh and here's the Jim Rome/Jim Everett "Chris" incident

Rome kept calling Chris Everett Chris Evert.

Jim... Jim Everett. That's why he got his ass kicked. Don't be next. :p

The only good thing to ever come out of Irvins mouth was, "I'm guilty".

Hated that guy. I actually can't stand ANY pre-game show these days. Gimme the old NFL on CBS with Muss, Irv and Jimmy.

I have the same feeling, I thought he was just lucky to stay out of jail.

I hated Michael Irvin but they didn't fire someone because of hate. Lets go over a list of Irvin's mind boggling acts:
1. When hi on crack tried to run a police officer down in his car
2. He was hi on crack multiple times
3. He couldn't commentate worth crap.
4. Racist comments
5. He was horribly biased towards his old team. I don't recall ever hearing him NOT pick the Cowboys or their players.

Good riddance. (I really really did like Harold Reynolds from BB Tonight and Sportscenter though; I wish they hadn't fired him!!)

Don't forget Deion Sanders at the NFL Network.

Jimmy the Greek? LMAO! yeah, OK.
says the black athlete is "bred to be the better athlete because, this goes all the way to the Civil War when ... the slave owner would breed his big woman so that he would have a big black kid."
Yeah, "those were the days" alright

His idea of making a point was to stand up and yell... which doesn't make you right, it makes you obnoxious.

Nice that you left out the context that surrounded your Jimmy the Greek quote.

The uproar, of course, began on Martin Luther King's birthday, when a reporter for WRC-TV caught Snyder at lunch in a Washington restaurant. The reporter asked him what he thought of the civil rights record of pro sports. In a rueful tone Snyder replied that whites were holding on to coaching jobs because, with blacks dominating the playing fields, management was the only role left for them. He added that young black athletes work harder than their white counterparts.

Finally--and this caused the most outcry--he said that black athletic prowess dates back to slavery. The slave owner, he said, would "breed his big black to his big black woman so that he would have a big black kid."

It was pretty bad. And Snyder made matters worse by talking about what he termed "the thigh situation," which he said helped to account for black success. With this, even while stating the opposite, Snyder managed to invoke the old racist canard that gifted black athletes don't have to work or think the way white athletes do.

I'm a bit confused, help me out, what is the proper context? How should I take his remarks? Scientifically accurate? Observationally correct? or what? Because he seemed to feel the need to appologize for them, which he did. Just trying ameliorate hurt feelings bvecause he was a great guy?

BTW, wouldn't make any difference why they canned him, for me, I didn't enjoy his work, long before that, and was just glad he was gone.

That little comment of yours implied that he took off his robe and pointy hat right before he walked on to the set. In context it was nothing more than an old guy making a politically incorrect remark in the context of a larger conversation where he was actually addressing an entirely different issue.

There it is "politically incorrect" good catch phrase, but what does that entail please? That it is true, but mustn't be said because it hurts others feelings. Do you agree with the actual comments he made? Are they scientifically accurate? Was he persecuted then? Honestly, regardless of the "entirely different issue" why did he say it? Was he right? and do you personally agree with him? I don't, I thought he was a boring old dude back then, and I didn't miss him when he was gone.

I'm Mr. Politically correct, to you. ;) Explain why The Greek shouldn't have caught heat or STFU. I thought his analysis was wrong, and his remarks reflected a mindset I considered blatantly ignorant. What is your stance? It is easy to throw around the politically correct card, but back it the hell up now. Tell me why he shouldn't have been brought to task, as he was, or is P.C. card all you got to play on this topic?

Sean Salisbury talks as if he knows all there is to know. He also comes down on John Clayton all the time for I'm sure a few different reasons, but Clayton is twice the analyst he is.

Irvin isn't that bad on the show, but he does ALWAYS pick black QBs as the top QBs in the league, and he does ALWAYS pick the Cowboys.

Shannon Sharpe is twice as bad. At least Irvin has some close friends in the NFL that give him some extra insight into many issues. Shannon is just an idiot.

That being said, does anyone else think that we'll be hearing about a drug arrest for Irvin soon? That was my first thought when I heard he was fired.
