Whenever somebody puts up a "build your dream machine" thread here, it always gets swamped my people finding that extra special bit of HW that costs $1000 whereas it would normally cost $20.

I was wondering if there was anythin like that for laptops.

I am not talking about just a dell with everthing speced to the max but some sort of Mil-spec $20,000 laptop.

Does such a thing exist?
 
I don't think it is possible to have a "dream machine" notebook since everyone's definition of what it would be is different.

Is it a desktop replacement with a 17" LCD that weighs 12 pounds? Or a 2-3 pound ultra portable?

For me, my "dream machine" is TWO machines - a ultra powerful desktop and a notebook . . .
 
one with a 17" display that you can open in coach (maybe fold out?) and weighs 2 lbs, has 10 hours of battery life, and plays all the latest and near future (within a year) games without a hitch. and costs $300. yeah. full size keyboard too.
