So I got an email about a free weekend event for ESO from 4/16 to 4/20.

It says to log into your account and click the download game link. Well, I don't see this, unless it's not available yet? It says to download as early as possible because it's 80 GB.

Not sure I want to download 80 GB though...

Yeah I received the same email. Apparently they're inviting all beta participants who never bought the game (and also former subscribers?). At least that's what I am.

Anyway, they forgot that beta-ers who never bought the game never did have a download link in our accounts. So here's the link to download the client included in the FAQ:
https://help.elderscrollsonline.com...sion/L3RpbWUvMTQyODUxMjc5NS9zaWQveHpRN3htam0=

I was in the beta, never purchased the game.
Thanks for the link.

Debating whether I want to download it and try it again.

if it was a longer period I would try it again, but 4 days and 80GB? my Internet download peak is at 1.7MB/s, so it's probably not worth it.

but thanks for letting us know

Er, it's a bit over 30gb. I just downloaded it this past weekend.

Bought a sealed boxed copy off eBay for $30 shipped with the cloth map and explorer pack, figured I'd give it a go in my off time.

The client is approximately 80GB, so please begin your download as early as possible. You will need to download the entire game before attempting to play.

unless 80 is a typo?

starting to install it and it shows 31,889 mb

I don't get it, isn't ESO F2P nowadays?

I'm guessing last ditch attempt to let anyone that didn't know think they were getting some kind of opportunity.

I'm calling the game at a year at best before they pull the plug. It took me all of 20 days to realize it sucked (but I did put in some major hours).

Wish I could dance around the guy that made this happen and say "I told you so!"; you would have made 4x the profits with a sequel to Skyrim and spend 25% of what you did.

Here's to hoping there will be a Guild Wars 3, where only certain classes can use stealth.

That sounds about right. It definitely wasn't 80gb.

oh ok, so I'm guessing after the 4 days my installed client won't be good any more and I'd have to buy the game anyway?

Yup. You'll need to buy a key. It's basically the same model Guild Wars 2 has now.

Except the next TES game has nothing to do ZOS so the MMO is irrelevant impact.
Do you really think they would put their TES single player series on hold for the sake of an MMO? - if I knew I could make a buggy mess of a product not once, not twice, but FIVE times and get away with having other people improve it for free...you can be damn sure I'll be working on the 6th one asap.

also considering Besd didn't even make it was sister company Zenimax online ;) Besd is either working on a new Fallout game or new Elderscrolls; so they can do both; and make even more month than you claim.

Eerily similar to what happened with TOR. Although Bioware did finally come out with a decent single player game eventually in DA:I. So I hope Bethesda will come out with another Elder Scrolls game. If their next game is FO series, I know a lot of people will be happy, but personally, I am much more into Elder Scrolls.

I was so desperate I even started Morrowind, but TBH, the graphics and interface are just a bit primitive for me, and most of the mods would not install somehow.
