Eset NOD Smart Suite...anyone use it in a network?

Looking to pick up 13 seats of Smart Suite. The Eset tech told me he'd recommend the Antivirus only as the Smart Suite causes connectivity problems due to the firewall which cannot be deactivated.

I have not seen this come up anywhere.

I am looking for an anti spam solution and these seems to be a good bang for buck at about $1000 as opposed to almost $1400 for just NOD and Cloudmark Antispam.

If any of your systems are servers I would hesitate to recommend either ESS or EAV (version 3 of NOD32) at the moment. I have been working with ESET since December on serious issues (loss of RDP sessions, DCs not responding to logon requests, poor-to-nonexistent share availability) that occurred on our servers with all 3.x versions of EAV (the antivirus alone) to date.

I have had a test version of EAV (3.0.653.0) running on a test server now for about a month without any problems, but this is not an official release. The company is playing their cards ver close to their chest, and I'm beginning to get pretty sick of it.

I had to roll an entire domain back to 2.70.39. That version is outstanding, but there's no security suite version of it, of course.

BTW, my problem is not unusual. This is a VERY common problem. There are even plenty of resellers of ESET problems who are now complaining on the support forum.

AFAIK it's more to do with 'windows server os' then actual servers. You are correct though, even ESET is telling people not to buy it for that purpose.

The client I have is all client to client networking.

Well, actually, there are folks using WinXP and Vista as servers who are reporting the same general effects on the support forum -- from poor response all the way to lockups and spontaneous reboots.

But my personal experience with it does concern the failures occurring only on very heavily hammered servers running Windows server operating systems.
