Besides the features the only differences between AV and Smart Security GUIs are the colors at the top of the window. Smart Security uses a blue logo and blue tint, the AV uses a green logo, and green tint. ;)

P.S. Did anyone catch how the application looks like something MS made for Vista? LOL

What's with all the Vista looking apps, can't we have some originality?

i tried it and had trouble oddly enough connecting here with it and one other forum. i uninstalled it and went back to version 2 of nod and the problem went away. i contacted their tech support about it also. my first impression is that they are getting like norton as far as trying to do to much and hogging system resources. i did scan with version 3 and found it to be slower than version 2.

Something must be messed uo with your box, there isn't anything wrong with the firewall, or scanning engine.

Eset isn't anywhere close to Norton, but I admit adding in the firewall and spam might be a tad much for some, but bloated, not at all.

The engine is twice as fast too, so if you're had a faster running engine in 2x then something is wrong, because I've scanned with 2x and 3x and 3.0 scanned my box in half the time. ;)

By the way Eset still makes the regular av, you don't have to use "Smart Security" use the regular AV then. ;)

Sheesh this post has been up 2 days, where's all the software geeks at, especially the AV fans, because I know there is a love for NOD32 out there in the community, and I'd of thought they'd be jumping by now.... LOL ;)

New AV version guys wakeup! LOL :)

Is it possible to download and install the AV + Firewall without the anti-spam? By the way, DasFox, thanks for the links.

* If you go to the official Eset forums at Wilders Security Forums there is plenty of talk about this being anew product and anything that is a new product will take time working the bugs out.

the anti spam is part of the anti virus and if i remember right you could turn that part off. i did not install the security suite just the anti virus and it screwed up my Internet browsing. there is lots of configuration options with version 3.

Everything can be disabled so that all you run is just a basic AV, so just disable antispam. :)

No antispam is a part of the new "Smart Security" program, not the basic AV which Eset still makes that is only a AV with spyware protection.

WOW no one else on the subject?

I'm really amazed at the lack of response to the new NOD32 version... :(

Two thing I notice, Das, about NOD32. 1) There are still many people who have never heard of it. 2) The latest version 3 is still so new I know of people who are waiting for it to work the bugs out.

Oh man you're not kidding a lot of bugs, I'm not happy with it at all, after a few days it was all I could take, and man the uninstall was a mess too. This goes for both versions, the Smart Security, and the Basic version, didn't like either at all. :(

Back to v2 for me, and if this is the future of Eset, looks like I'll be looking else where in the future.

Its that bad? I am shocked and dismayed to hear that. So what other suites use very low system resources? If NOD was number 1 who would be number 2?

IMO I don't think ESET has ever been #1 in anything except for dragging its feet on releasing new versions. :p Kaspersky Internet Security uses little memory (2 processes and <20MB according to task mgr.), has industry leading detection/removal, hourly signature updates, and occasionally you can find it free after rebate. The firewall is one of the highest rated in any suite.

DasFox, I hope you will decide to voice your issues very pointedly over at the Eset forums found at www.wilderssecurityforums.com I can say one thing with 100% certainty and that is they pay very close attention to the issues and complaints of their customers.

I really belive they would want (and need) to hear from you. They truly do read posts.

I am very happy with version 2 and it has served me well. Great protection.

NOD32 v3 works FINE in Windows XP, but in Windows VISTA it slows my internet to a CRAWL, it has even crashed my system. So I going to leave V3 on my laptop (windows xp) and use version 2 on my desktop (vista).

If I went ahead and upgraded to v. 3 on my XP system will I need to do a lot of configuring like I had to do in the initial set-up when I first purchased and installed?

Default NOD32 did not detect virus, virustotal shows it is a virus.
Just had a virus infection on my USB disk which then transfered to my PC. NOD32 (Smart Security specifically) did not detect it as a virus. I only noticed it when an unfamiliar exe file wanted internet access.

I then upload the file to virustotal.com and it came back 22 out of 32 virus scanners detected it as a virus.

Kaspersky detected it as Worm.Win32.AutoRun.aw, which is what im using now to scan my computer after the discovery of this virus.

Im surprised (and a bit worried) NOD32 did not detect this virus.

I have been making posts over there actually. ;)

Eset v3 has some issues, and should of never been released as a final product, and I'm not the only that has had a lot of problems with it. If anyone looks over at wilderssecurityforums you'll see a lot of problems with v3.

For now I'm sticking to v2, v3 has some serious bugs that need fixing.

The latest I have read is that ESET will soon be releasing another update with fixes.

I love my NOD32 v.2.7 Suprisingly, a number of people are experiencing absolutely no issues with v.3 anti-vi OR security suit.
